Yeah here's the thing. He's like 14-20th overall right now. But when draft season comes around these teams all get dumb and take QBs early so if he's the #1 QB now, I anticipate him being #3 or so when the draft rolls around because he has small hands (again the draft is dumb) which will still be like top 8 or so

If Pickett is the first QB taken... he ain't lasting to the Steelers pick unless they are picking top 5 or so.If the Steelers went full homer on James Cancer they have to be considering Pickett, right?

The Stillers already won too many games to draft KP

Longer-term roster news...
LB/DE AJ Roberts announced yesterday that he's entering the transfer portal. He was a 3-star 2020 recruit who projected at MLB. In terms of size and physique, he reminded me a lot of Clint Session/HB Blades. With them moving Dennis to MLB and George & Pine elevating their play, he got buried at MLB. He was working with the DEs in camp, but was obviously behind there as well.
The good news here is that it frees up another scholarship, which is good given that they're already working with a smaller class.
Pitt will now be losing five LBs for next year - Campbell, Petrishen, Pine, Roberts, and Wendell Davis. For next year, they'll return Dennis, Bright (if he comes back as a super senior), Brandon George, Kamara, DeShields, Leslie Smith, Aydin Henningham, and Preston Lavant as scholarship LBs.

George has gotten more playing time as the season progressed, which is a good thing to see because they need bodies going forward. Seems like Kamara has gotten some playing time but he seems to line up more like an end than an LB. they have no choice but to go transfer portal next year.

Wonder if Petrishen can get a 12th year of eligibility. I think Bright comes back. Before the season he was being touted as someone with an NFL future. I don’t know if he does, but this hasn’t been enough for him to cement a draft status. Might as well come back and improve his stock or get one last year of football before life gets real (though I would have said the same thing about Pinnock so who knows). What’s the deal with Leslie Smith? Played as a freshman until he hit the redshirt limit and seemed highly thought of. Missed last year due to injury. This season I don’t think I’ve seen him since the opposition got real.

Bright is pretty good but he should take a page out of the Phil Campbell book and come back for another year. Not a bad player at all, belongs in the ACC, but no NFL future.

He may be stretching the truth, but it is mostly true. I went back and re-read some of the progress of the 2018 super panther thread. that season was a mess.

List of seasons since 1976 where it didn't end in a mess:
Seriously, I cannot remember an end to the season where I said, you know what, they played their best and ended up ranked beyond where I had hoped and ended with a big bowl win. Forget about "we're going to be so much better next season" anticipation after a Blue Bonnet bowl win. This season is it. If they win out, as a Pitt fan, I can say they reached nirvana. Never expect a NC, but every once in a while a conference championship and a big bowl win.

So. Pitt's gonna finish the season as a pregame favorite in every regular season game they played. Kinda cool. Kinda sad they lost to WMU still

If they win these final 2 games, I'm not sure that WMU game is really going to make a difference. At the end of the day, IF we can go 10-2, which is a big IF, and we win the Coastal and play for the ACC Championship with a legit chance to win it unlike 2018, then I think the only difference that WMU game makes is 2-3 ranking spots.So. Now, if we also didn't lose to Miami, and the playoffs were in play (which I think we'd get crushed against a Georgia or Bama, but anyone would), then that game makes a difference.
But I think we are where our talent says we are.

I watched the Wedensday night maction between WMU and EMU and WMU's qb threw a pick and fumbled on WMU's last two possessions, and WMU could have one the game with a score on either of those drives.
2021-2022 Super Pitt Panthers Sports Thread
I think we'd still be daydreaming about a CFP berth if we beat WMU. Would ultimately end up around 6-8 most likely but would still be fun. Probably meaningless, but that game still sucked and ruined my weekend in September

Pitt doesn't have a good enough win to justify a CFP birth. But they would be in the top 10 with 1 loss.

Would an undefeated Pitt team get any different treatment than non P5 Cincinnati? I feel that they are one in the same other and Wake Forest could be lumped in.
If Cincinnati would get in, then I think saying Pitt would have been in instead had they gone undefeated would be 100% correct.

i think if a P5 champ was undefeated they'd get in no questions asked. Especially adding a win over a top 15 team in the championship game, presumably
