I just don't like it personally. I've seen Field of Dreams too many times I guess.

I never really even thought of that. Parenting is wild.

Had my latest proud dad moment today.
We went to a trunk or treat party at my friend's house. A girl and her mother came by towards the end and asked if we had given rainbow lollipops in our treat bags as the little girl had dropped hers in the mud. We didn't, but my son apparently heard her ask this and, completely unprovoked, grabbed his rainbow lollipop and ran it over to her to give it to the little girl. Made me so proud of him.

This. Our Daycare has no hot dogs for any age and my wife worked at one a few years back with the same policy. Big choking hazard food even if cutI think it's largely different for me. At home? Hot dog away when I can focus on just one kid and they have my attention.Wait, what is age appropriate for a hot dog? If the kid has teeth, they're getting tube steaks in the toupe household.
Hot dogs in group settings? That's like multiple choke hazards at once, and the teachers can't pay 100% attention 100% of the time. I just don't like that, especially for the 1-3 range.

Our daughter invited a girl that literally just moved into the neighborhood to her birthday party and it just made my whole week. The girl looked overjoyed and surprised.

I'm just happy that my kids helped work our trunk or treat. They took a break to go around, but other than that my oldest helped me set up the trunks and fight the storm that blew through 20 minutes prior to kids getting there.

Yea, I am pretty sure my kid hurried through so he could come back and hand out the treat bags for everyone else.I'm just happy that my kids helped work our trunk or treat. I was talking to my daughter yesterday about her birthday, and she tells me that she doesn't really want to have a party. I was a little surprised by this, especially since we didn't do anything last year for obvious reasons, but my wife mentioned having some of her friends over so that they could just hang out and play. Works for me, but I still want to make sure that she's sure sure that she doesn't want a birthday party.

Yeah that seems like a buyers remorse situation. Come the day of her birthday or the nearest weekend, I could see her feeling differently. Especially a girl in this situation. Have a back up plan haha

My daughter saved up 100 "proud points" (she is racking them up) and got to have lunch with the principal today. Her excitement is contagious.

My youngest cashed in his "points" for 5 minutes of talking during a class of his choosing, but he organized the rest of the class to do the same and they got math class canceled for the day. My daughter's big end of season soccer tournament is today. I'm home with our sick son. He's been up s bunch the last two nights and has barely napped so fingers crossed he sleeps a lot today.
Her team has won every game by like 8 goals, and they are in the upper bracket against teams they've never faced. 3-0 good guys midway thru the second half. Two more games after this. I'm nervous for them

With two wins and a tie... Her team won! MUCH tougher competition in this one with the best four U10 teams from all over Lancaster County. The other really good team they played had one final game against the team we beat, and ended up tying 0-0.
So proud of and happy for my girl. Her first "real" sports team and they were phenomenal. She was in net for three halves and only gave up one goal.

Just got back from DuPont with my son...looks like we are doing tubes in both ears. Really hoping it provides relief and helps his speech along too.

Hope it helps. One of my nephews had them and the difference was night and day (although the pain of making sure they hadn't fallen out or that provided some parental irritation).
You ever wonder how we managed before? Like, would people have just written off a kid as having a learning disability simply because their ear canal hadn't opened enough to understand what you were saying? Thank God
Congrats on the tourney win too. Hopefully your wife or another parent was able to text you play by play. Between three kids and 7 years of sports we've bene lucky to have somebody at every game that can provide updates. I'd be a wreck being left in the dark.

My kids had tubes - my youngest had them put in twice(!) and things turned out well. It cleared up the ear and sinus infections, and my son's speech progress grew exponentially once he could hear properly.
DG Jr passed his road test yesterday, only missing 3 points. I'm not sure how it is in PA these days, but if you hire a driver's ed service? company? they provide road instruction and will administer the road test with that instructor (who is obviously certified by the state). Then we drop the paperwork, his learner's permit, and $25 and he gets his restricted license. RIP insurance too.
Now we've got to find him a car, so I don't spend an hour a day driving him to school.

My son had tubes put in a week after his first birthday back in February 2020. I don't think he has been quiet since.
