I was at a Virgin Records release party when Blur came out. It was at a recording studio in Hollywood, and they were playing three or four songs on a loop. So I heard Song 2 like 9 f**king times in a couple hour period, and with that my interest in Blur came to an abrupt end.Decided to finally delve into the Blur catalog recently, and have been pleasantly surprised with the variety and quality.
We just watched a documentary series (iirc on Amazon) and one of the episodes spends a lot of time on the rivalry between Blur and Oasis, of which I had no actual memory. But it was apparently quite a big deal in the UK.

This is one of my absolute favorite pieces of music. First discovered it in WOTLK and keep coming back to it. Haunting and beautiful.

Man, it’s funny listening to my teenagers and a few of their friends debate who had the better new release: Drake or Kanye.
I’m obviously not in the demo, and both seem fine to me - but they are so passionate about it! Who has the better features, better samples (Drake sampled My Michelle by the Beatles! Kanye sampled R. Kelly! And so on)
I guess I did this back in the day? But I don’t remember rock artists being this competitive.

There's a great new Netflix documentary on drumming called Count Me In. Highly recommended.

there are many reasons why the stones are my favorite band by a mile and the fact that the rhythm section ebbed and flowed like a river current is one of the main reasons. chad smith pointing out how honky tonk woman starts out at 103 and ends up at 109 is good stuff. that doc was excellent and there could easily be part II and III bcuz you really need to go as deep into hal blaine, earl palmer and roger hawkins (to name but a few) as you do moon and bonham. There's a great new Netflix documentary on drumming called Count Me In. nice to see they didn't overlook the brilliant women
one thing about high end bands (whether you like them or not) is they all have high skill guys/gals on the kit.

My thing has always been that the drummer doesn't have to be the best musician in the band, but if they're the worst you probably aren't long for this world. Like, the other musicians in the ensemble need to be Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon.

I've gained a totally different respect for drumming and drummers since I switched to bass.

I wish Night Fever had a cooler chorus. It starts off like a boss and then turns into easy listening. Then toggles back and forth.
I feel similarly about Africa. 2 songs that are half good, half unlistenable.

No idea what show you're seeing, but just pulled this up to see what was available. Apparently there's also something called "Premier Parking."

Been listening to some early quicksilver messenger service (self title, happy trails, shady grove) and looking for some more recommendations of that 60s psychedelic folk jam sound. Got electric music for the mind and body by country joe and the fish, something good for your head by Blackburn and snow, and kak-ola by kak lined up, but always on the lookout for more. What you got?
@PFiDC your mom probably has been around a lot of these bands
