20th anniversary. It debuted on September 9, 2001. Crazy to think it’s been that long for that and the terrorist attacks two days later.

HBO is doing a podcast with cast members, Tom Hanks, and writers/producers. That should be interesting.

It definitely doesn’t feel like a 20 year old show. Thanks for the heads up about the podcast. Subscribed.

Watched the first episode of Marvel's What If.... I enjoyed it. The one with Agent Carter as Captain America. I like the animation too, very Zelda BOTW like.

Half way through Loki. I'm liking that as well.

And a little over half way through Boy Meets World Season 2.

The Defeated ended up in my Netflix recommendations, and it's pretty good. It's nominally about an NYPD detective that gets sent to 1946 Berlin to help start a local police department. It's primarily filmed in Prague @Tomas but it's startling how they got the look of bombed-out Berlin right (according to photos of the time). Taylor Kitsch plays the detective, and his Brooklyn accent can be over the top at times. It seems everyone in Berlin can speak English fairly well, too. But other than that, it's an interesting show if you like that time period.

I've seen Friday Night Lights the movie but never bothered with the show. Noticed it was on Netflix so I watched S1E1 last night. It's overly simplistic to say, but this feels like it's going to be a really long and drawn-out version of the movie. The pacing is just super slow. Funny seeing Fat Damon young and in shape.

I'd stick with it. FNL is one of my favorite shows of all time. The first season very loosely follows the movie.

Part of it is on me, I was looking for a 22-30min show to work through and decided to check out a 45min drama. I'll check it out. It will have to run out of movie/book material and do its own thing eventually, I assume.

Oh yeah, that's not the show you want then. Also full disclosure, the second season they are fighting for ratings and the storylines get a little... ridiculous.

Never seen the movie, but the show is terrific. I finally caved when my grandpa said did you ever see this Friday night football show, man everyone is sleeping with everyone, it's crazy. My wife now has buddy Garrity socks, I splurged for our anniversary one year.

I actually just started re-watching last week as background noise. I’ll echo nocera’s statement of it being one of my favorite shows. Very high volume of smoke shows populating Dillon, TX. It was a very good show made great by the threat of, and then action of, cancellation.

First season is excellent but suffers from moments of network TV 20+ episode order bloat. Second season is okay but the worst season of the show. Writers strike ended the season early and low ratings and the threat of cancellation led to the introduction of nonsense storylines that are all but ignored in future seasons. Continued low ratings led to cancellation and revival on a DirecTV channel that no longer exists, finally hitting that 13 episode sweet spot for removing the storytelling bloat.

Season ranking: 5, 1, 3, 4, 2

Watched the first 3 minutes of the Rick and Morty finale and that’s all folks. Crow people…turkey people…horse people. All this season. Interdimensional travel is on the table, and they keep making earth animals into characters.

But it’s just not for me anymore. …or most people soon enough.

Yeah that does look better than the teasers. I guess Deb is the new Harry?

Yep. I like that aspect very much. He beat the Harry demon in him. Deb took his place.

Hmmm.

I mean, watching the whole thing and then leaving would have made sense. The whole premise of the episode was fan service to those that wanted canon advancement. And you bailed because of Two Crows?

These writers handling canon is the thing. What’s the point of seeing where bad writing takes it.

Just started watching this, and burned through it. Ron Donald may be the saddest character in tv history. Guilfoyle was perfected before Silicon Valley. But mostly, some episode premises are just too perfect.
