Pelech…8 years. 5.75 per.
It won’t kill them, but it’ll be fun when Trotz moves on and guys like this turn back into 2nd pairing non-dynamo pumpkins.

System guy who was the main person allowing us to get about 50 shots a game in that series. Cool.
But it looks like the contract reflects that. Solid middle pair player (on a non-Trotz team) who gets a bonus for making the trash pile fans happy

Hitting takes a toll on the body. It also can take you wildly out of position. It’s also a decision to hit. The people you mention jump the boards and think “hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit” and then change. ZAR thinks “hit, stay on top of puck, good stick position, funnel this guy, stick lift, pass, be an outlet” then change. Why doesn’t he hit more? I’m with you. He plays a physical game (in that he’s not shy like you say) but doesn’t understand the potential impact he could have as a banger. You see. This is what I’m talking about. He’s not soft. I’ve never seen him shy away from contact. He most certainly takes hits to make plays. He's fine, just a little soft, IMO. He's certainly not overpaid.
Is it not how he pictures himself or is it just really hard to hit guys unless you’re a Martin/Wilson mutant or a psychopath like Tanev?

I think Mr Smarty Pants strategist is becoming less and less useful.
We literally would have been better off with Zac Rinaldo getting 8 minutes a game in the Isles series.
I guess this is my hobby horse, but these guys like Martin have a distinct, highly useful role in this league and GM’s are like “naaaaaaah. Derrick Grant, please. Because I need a piss break every once in a while and I don’t want to miss anything “.
The utility isn’t there in every playoff series. But in round 1 when it’s thunder dome, we can’t keep doing this thing where we take a more principled approach.

We didn’t need muscle in ‘16 either. Because, like Tampa, we didn’t even need to pull out the whole shlong to win the measure-off.He must have hated Tampa Bay winning the Cup with all their little skilled guys...
But even so, it seems obvious that we have a problem getting pushed around by teams who know that’s the only way to beat us.
I don’t think we have any chance against the Caps going forward unless the dynamic changes. The isles are dogshit, so it’s a coin toss. But it shouldn’t be that close.

The oilers can’t attract any free agents but that’s just mind boggling. Mcdavid is going to regret that long term deal probably even sooner that most expected. That's Sid and Geno level money there. Madness. Another broken **** sports league.

Maybe hanging onto $4M Pettersson and Marino isn't a bad idea.

Big contracts aren't the enemy of the league...the money that comes in is a percentage, not an absolute number, of what goes out...the cost certainty seems in place...big contracts are good, it means the league is healthy...usually...
Though, Columbus and Edmonton paying their respective taxes to keep homegrown talent is not not noteworthy...

No one wants to live in shithole regions anymore. Players know what they want - and it ain’t performing for yokels and then going to Arby’s for fine dining after the game.

That’s what playing above your head in a wonky ass season will get you. Paid for life.
