Yeah, this is so clearly crossing a line. it could force the league to erect barriers to prevent fans from doing this and thus making the experience worse for all the other fans. The players should expect some level of protection and thus I have no problem with acting out in response to fans doing this. And honestly, if you do something that stupid on camera a game, you have to deal with whatever the social consequence is. Whether that be some sort of fine or banishment from sports games. There is enough security around the player now that there won't be a ron artest situation unfolding, so they definitely won't face the punishment of being beaten up, which, is probably the most apt repercussion.Talk crap all you want as long as you keep it clean. But throwing anything or spitting at someone should be grounds for never being able to come back. People think because they paid to get in that they can express their opinion any way they choose. Good chance that your accuracy throwing that item is gonna be off so you put others at peril.

Forget the ban, press charges. These people will get around the ban, or just don't care. And that is for every sport.Talk crap all you want as long as you keep it clean. The bottle thrower at Boston has been charged and I think I saw that the guy who came on the court in DC last nite was also getting charged. Actually doing it rather than threatening to ‘prosecute to the fullest extent of the law’ would be a fine deterrent.

Yep. It's like fining a millionaire player $5K for clubbing someone on the head with a stick. Suspend them for like 15 games, then they will think twice. The bottle thrower at Boston has been charged and I think I saw that the guy who came on the court in DC last nite was also getting charged. i'm generally pro-lebron, but this thing where it's not worth his time to play in losing situations...yuck.
it's a funny thing for a guy so obsessed with his historical status to just hand millions of people the "Jordan's better" ammunition with no ambiguity.

Glad the Lakers are out. Them, the Yankees, and the Cowboys are 3 teams I'm always glad are out w/o having a real "hatred" towards (ie. they are not the Flyers or Ravens)
If the Clippers can win the next 2 against Dallas, I like how the West shaped up. Wouldn't mind any of these teams winning then.
In the East, rooting interest is the Nets, Hawks, Bucks, and then a distant 4th the 76ers. They would be literally the only other team remaining in the playoff field I'll be rooting against. Which means it's probably likely they will win the championship.

This Twitter poster plays the role of "Captain Obvious" here. It should 100% be expected that in a sport requiring a relatively small number of players on a roster, the impact of a true outlier superstar would be far greater than in sports with "long benches" (football, baseball, hockey,...) If hockey teams were only allowed to rotate, say, 8-9 players, Team Gretzky would have been in SC finals very often....

Yeah, this is why I just can't get into the NBA. There have been some great Finals, and a lot of stinkers. The regular season often feels pointless. Hell, the first two rounds are largely pointless.in basketball, the team that should win almost always does win. and i think that's nice.
...but it wouldn't be much fun if i was a charlotte fan or whatever
That said, I normally watch the Finals.

it’s like Hawks-Knicks. I don’t care which team wins because neither team has more than a 0% chance to win the finals. Any other sport and every playoff team has an inkling of a chance

This is a really good read on the parity issue.

I love Chuck's points, but I'm also hoping the Nets beat the Sixers in the ECF.“If I’d known you guys were going to make fun of me for not winning a championship, I would have joined a superteam back in my day—me and Patrick [Ewing] and Karl Malone and John Stockton. But I feel good about my legacy. I’m pretty sure Patrick and John and Karl do, too. LeBron [James] started this superteam thing [in Miami], and hey, it’s the way the game is played now.”
Barkley notes that his concern over the creation of superteams is the way they stunt the growth of franchises, particularly those in smaller markets.
“When Kawhi [Leonard] left Toronto—other than Chicago, that’s my favorite city in the world, [but] I’m never going there again,” Barkley said, noting that the Raptors are no longer a contender since Leonard left in free agency. “When LeBron left Cleveland, I’m never going there again. When James [Harden] left Houston, I’m never going to Houston again. Same thing when LeBron left Miami. Oklahoma City, once KD left, we’re never going back there again. And I don’t think that’s good for the game.
