Yeah, he was...he had fallen out of favor there...but still, I love Mantha's shot, but man, I'm not sure I'd trade Vrana for him...I know I wouldn't do it with a high pick on top...much less two...

I would argue that Vrana and Mantha are (should be, but obviously not to the Caps) basically on par value wise. Panik is a dump. Vrana, Panik, 3rd should have done it. The overpayment was the 1st plus, basically overpay of 1st + 3rd (if you consider two 3rd for a 2nd)

Let's even say they paid the 2nd to dump the two extra years of Panik. Fine. But that means it's Vrana and 1st for Mantha...that's spicy for me...

That's just a bad trade. Maybe I'm overly high on Vrana but I think he's real damn good.

Columbus did a tremendous job. Two 1sts, a 3rd, and a 4th for a couple of role players on expiring contracts. Granted one was their captain.

He can't move himself or the puck as well as dumoulin can. More physical. He's more of a 4 than a 2 though.

Still a good player.
