I got some ‘16 vibes goin’, tbh. There’s a power vacuum happening. If you look around and no one seems scary - that means you’re the scary one.
I’m most afraid of the Broons. If at some point they get Rask back and he can stay healthy I think they can make us play a super ugly, grind-it-out series similar to the Sens in 2017

I think we’ve proven over the years that we can beat the Caps and I don’t think the Isles have enough skill (though they whooped us two seasons ago)

Tampa almost got us in ‘16 because of goaltending, despite us being head and shoulders top dog.

Anything can happen. But there’s some swagger going on.

I'd like to think we've solved the Isles. Caps would be a toss up series imo, we'd be dogs to TBL

TBL are still a bunch of soft peens.

Take away the playoff atmosphere and intensity and they have the edge. Congrats on the weirdo cup. But with fans there reminding them that there are stakes, pffft.

It's bonkers that we went 6-2 against the Isles.

Different type of peen. Our leadership doesn’t pout and take their ball and go home when things start getting too hard.

Bubble Cup was a battle of attrition. They deserve a ton of credit. But it doesn’t translate to the real show.

Is it really going to be much different with 3000 fans in the stands?

Tampa added a tough third line and tough D. It's not the same team. They earned their Cup...

Bonus: They did it without Stamkos...

Madden is banging the trade Zucker drum. Not that he doesn’t like him but because he can fetch a good return.

Doesn’t make sense to me at all though. Why trade a position we are trying to reinforce?

I don’t see much need for a Mantha type. I think, full health, we have a pretty strong group of forwards. “Full health” is a big assumption but ideally in the playoffs we’d throw out a lineup of something like:

Jake - Sid - RW1
Zuck - Geno - Kaspi
McCann - Blueger - Tanev
ZAR - Gaudreau/Jank/whoever - Rodrigues

I’m pretty happy with that tbh

though I can see the argument that we need as much help as we can get because there’s a 0% chance we’ll be healthy in the playoffs
This post made me (1) confirm that Bryan Rust wasn't hurt, and then (2) have to figure out why Bryan rust was referred to as rw1.

My favorite response in the r/hockey thread was “remember when Dubinsky lost his ‘A’ to Jack Johnson?”

From the start of last season, TB had a whole different attitude and were playing beyond the whistle to try and compensate for being embarrassed the year before by CBJ. The trades certainly helped and having an absolute tank like Hedman that you can double-shift with limited players like Shattenkirk/Bogosian in a 7 dman grouping goes a long way, but the whole mindset was different and the coaching staff demanded it and got it it.

On skill and experience now alone, TB is easily at the very top of the NHL, but they were also when the BJ's humiliated them. The absolute drive and desire was there last year, but will it again? Hope the Pens don't get anywhere near them until the end

Did Burke really state he is going to have to “thrash it out with Sully” on how the the team plays?
