Greatest players to play for the Penguins:

1. Lemieux
2. Jagr
3. Crosby

That's a given, right?
Greatest players as a Penguin...? Or just anyone who put on the uniform for us...? Assuming the former, it's Mario, Crosby, Jagr for me, in that order. Three top 20 players in the history of the game...

It's been a while now, but do you recall on LGP the all-time draft that we did...?
Anyone to play for the Pens.

And unfortunately, I don't remember that.

Gary Roberts played like 60 games as a Penguin...regardless of protein shake game, he really doesn't qualify here...with all due respect to him and what he's about...
This gets somewhat difficult IMO.

Very interesting to see the all time leaders in points of the Pens. I probably never would have guessed the guys at 12 and 14 were that high up.
Hopefully one day someone will unseat Ramzi Abid for top of alphabetical order. Dude sucked so bad he doesn’t even deserve that.
Pontus Aberg could've been a Penguins legend.

Names to consider: Kehoe, Pronovost, Coffey, Fleury, Barrasso, ...

TIL Pittsburgh is only one of three franchises with four 1000-point players. The others are
Chicago
and
Detroit
.
I would have guessed the Habs.

My list of my all time favorites, and it doesn't have to mean they were with the team for the majority of their career or whatever, but as guys that contributed and just stick out to me:

All time best
Lemiuex, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin, Francis

Up there (spent majority of career with Pens and were big contributors)
MAF, Barrasso, Letang

Best of the rest (Spent a lot of time elsewhere, but were equally split among other teams so don't have a one team "identity"

Coffey, Murphy, Mullen, Sameulson, Stevens, Kovalev, Straka

Again, these are the guys I remember playing, and who always stick out to me with their time with the Penguins.

The pre 1988 Pens I don't remember watching, so I'm sure there are guys on their that should be on the list, I just never seen them play.

Sorry, I think he comes close. If I had to top off my list to get to 20, I'm putting Gonchar and then Duper in those spots. I'll give Ulf #21, though.

Athletes in the 80s all looked stupidly old because of their stupid mustaches.

I love Talbot, too. The issue is that we have a lot of great players.

I think the intent (as it is at least 95% of the time) it's their career value as a Penguin...otherwise, I'm gonna get a lot of mileage out of Andy Bathgate...

Incidentally, I wonder if Marleau is even a top 500 player of all time...Morrow isn't...
Prevent Marleau from being born and, outside of San Jose, nothing changes anywhere. It’s not just that he never won. He had no iconic moments or cultural impact. Not sure he ever even changed his facial expression throughout his career.

500 is a big number, so I don’t know if he’s part of it or not. But history will consider him a very forgettable guy. Is he like slightly below the Naslund tier, maybe?

If we're talking personal favorites, Matt Cullen may be in my Top 20. So is Zubov. Worst trade ever.

And pounding Ben Eager

I often think about this fight. I’ve seen thousands and thousands of hockey fights. This is the only one where a dude got his tarp ripped off, but by some miracle of God kept his lid on.

9 years, no wonder my old man brain couldn't remember that. I think an update would be a fun time-waster.
