Nothing is permanent. The Red Sox know what they are doing. I would look for the Red Sox to be a team primed to capitalize on the eventual fallout of the NL West arms race. Either the Padres or going to have to self-destruct and send Tatis to someone like Red Sox to take Hosmer's contract, or the dodgers are going to find themselves out of WS contention with 2 billion dollars in contract commitments and the Red Sox will be there to eat some salary and load up on talent.
yeah, for some reason we have championship years and then go dormant for a couple of years. I'm more worried now than I've been at any point in the last 20 years though
at least for 04-13 we had Papi anchoring the organization and the '18 was Mookie being an MVP and Price finally not sucking. I'm very unhopeful at the current moment. I don't think there's a clera path to being competitive atm

That's what I was getting at. Red Sox try to win, spend money, etc. Pirates do not so I don't feel bad that a Red Sox fan feels like it might be tough going for a year or two.I could see how it would be difficult for a Pirates fan to understand that some teams try and win. They spend money, sign free agents, develop talent organizationally, etc. The revenue share is nice and all but it's not the core factor for existing. Weird, crazy.Red Sox fan acting sad on a message board that is primarily Pirates fans.
Let's see how this goes...

Yeah, that wasn't really a jab at you. My bad.

Is this ESPN guy that replaced Law from fangraphs?
I ask because fangraphs is the only outlet that considered Swaggerty worth a damn that I knew of.

Grew up watching the Vermont minor league teams. Affiliated with Cincinnati Reds in the 80s. Remember Barry Larkin played there one year and Chris Sabo for a couple years. Paul O’Neill, Robb Dibble, and norm Charleton also. Then the Mariners took over and Griffey Jr. played for a short stretch. Then they became the Vermont Expo for a long time and Jason Bay played there.
The “stadium” was awful. Concrete bleachers along the baselines and actual seats behind the plate. But definitely have some great memories of games there.
