I probably don't need to remind yinz that Julien Baker is releasing her new album in a few days.

Danny's are about as hard to break as a pencil. It's like they're made out of plywood and pressed balsa.

Either she or Jason Isbell said that particular model has a lot of aluminum in it.

Oh nvm that's a Dano 56 which is a solid body. I thought it was one their rinky dink semi-hollows, which will splinter if you look at them harshly.

Yeah I was gonna say, she took like 10 swings and the guitar looked fine at the end. Didn't really have the intended effect.

Listening to her on SNL was my first experience with her and it wasn't a good one. I imagine she's better than that, but that was a pretty poor performance.

RIP Mary Wilson
the supremes best singer and an even better person
below is 'floy joy' with mary on 1/2 the vox
the song was written by smokey robinson. for me it's the best tune he ever came up with
floy joy has every element motown ever conceived packed into 2 minutes 37 seconds and manages to do it without sounding contrived, frkn magic how the song seems to glide
back in the day when we'd make mix tapes to ride around smoking reefer to you'd sprinkle floy joy on a sixty minute cassette three or four times because the song was so short
check out our homie bob babbitt's fatass bass tone

She has a tremendous sense of humor about herself, which is a good thing these days.

@eddy this is a better performance: https://www.npr.org/2020/09/10/91110103 ... me-concert

It's a joke that the people who are going after her on Twitter seem to be white dudes with goatees. But yes, the SNL performance wasn't her best. She seemed nervous and the mix sounded off. Check out DG's link or this one:

Also, that Phil Collins/George Harrison story was in Phil's autobiography. The congas were added into the 30th anniversary mix of All Things Must Pass, fwiw.

That is much better, but I just can't get into any of this. Not for me. Glad you guys enjoy her!

Her advocacy for the Truth in Music Advertising stuff is low-key great. And of course, so talented. RIP.

Remember when Ennio Morricone died, and the Washington Post credited him as the "oo-ee-oo-ee-oooo" guy?

With the Shottenheimer obit today, and this one, I'd say there's an issue with the Post's obit writers.
