I think it looks fine, and whether it looks "cool" is irrelevant to me. I want a car to be quiet, comfortable, and practical, and vans like the Stepwgn maximize the space and utility for their size. It's so stupid that people deny themselves the minivan. Plus, check out the Stepwgn's trick rear hatch:

Mrs macs jeep is in the shop for a new PTU (back in my day these were called transfer cases).
Mechanic said it's about a 1 day job and he found a low mileage used one for $250. I'm hoping to come out under $1g...

As a topic for discussion, what would be your daily driver if you could completely spec your own custom car? Let's say this vehicle has to be your primary transportation, cargo-hauler, and grocery-getter, so if you specify a Ferrari or something you have to live with it on a daily basis.
The ideal Shystermobile would be a compact van along the lines of the Stepwgn with a premium interior, all-wheel drive, a big sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, a six- or seven-speed manual transmission, and an engine (preferably turbocharged) to run at least, say, seven seconds 0-60.

Something that's paid off and has a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty.

No manual trans but 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and just about the nicest interior imaginable...

High end Dodge Challenger. I have wanted one for years but it doesn't do any one thing substantially better than the M6 does. But if I had to have only one car for the rest of my life it might check off every box.

Ugh. No SUVs. And my definition of "premium interior" isn't nearly that lofty. I still reflexively judge car interiors by the econoboxes that my family owned in the 80s when I was growing up. When I say "premium," I mostly mean "no rock-hard plastic, maybe some leather seats, and enough sound insulation that I don't have to raise my voice to talk to another person." The 1977 Ford Fiesta my mother owned didn't even come with a radio; she had one put in as a dealer-installed option. So I'm not talking anywhere near the level of Bentley's "every interior has the leather from 30 cows and the wool from 20 sheep" type stuff. No manual trans but 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and just about the nicest interior imaginable...

Tesla X, red, long range plus edition. Shocked that it's under $100K tbh

Either a Tesla S P100D AWD or a Maserati GT. Per our discussion a couple months ago, if I could get one that I knew to be sound, I'd have an Alfa Giulia QF, but that appears to be a big ask.
Mrs Tif can have the practical car.

Speaking of minivans and about GM moving away from gas cars by 2035, I noticed a new Sienna minivan this morning with hybrid badging.
I thought that was pretty cool, and as I don't follow Toyota, I figured it was an upper trim level option.
Nope, I went to build one on their website and all trim level 2021s are hybrid six cylinders, with a mpg of 36 city and highway.
They also listed something called a Mirai - which is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, with mpg in the upper 60s. Never heard of it.

I like the front end, but that rear end ruins it for me, personally. The wheels are lame, too.

So having discussed ad nauseam getting myself a new vehicle, and knowing we planned to get all the kids cars while they're in college that they can keep afterwards (oldest has a '16 Fusion) we decided rather than getting the car I really want, we'd get something new that we'd be good with handing off to middle Franchise in a few years rather than risking it with something used at that time. So, we ended up getting a Mazda3 Turbo Sedan yesterday.
I mean, it's not the Audi, Acura or Genesis I really wanted, but Mazda has done a really nice job with these. My old '14 was top trim level but had pretty much nothing, which- it was 7 years old but by then most cars had at least a screen.
I think this will keep me happy for a while, till I get the itch back.
