I've driven down a road at least 1-2 a day for 13 years - ironically called Forest Drive - and it was clearcut of all pine trees. Acres of loblolly pines, gone. It was there Thursday, and gone by the weekend. Very jarring.
It's happened several times around us, and it's just odd. Yes, I know these trees were planted to be timber or whatever...but it looks like Verdun or the surface of the Moon now. RIP wildlife.
