What’s with the three stars on the W?

Three Cups? No that’s not it

Maybe the three bodies of government
The Three Stars represent Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.

It is part of the Washington DC flag and crest and other such pictorial representations. The three stars and two bars for DC was taken directly from the (George) Washington's family coat of arms, which way out dated George. The three stars and the two striprs are all over DC. Even with breweries. DC Brau's logo has them, and another DC brewery is actually called Three Stars.

There are a lot of... explanations for the three stars; three branches of government, something with DC leadership early on, etc. However, it was taken directly from the Washington family crest, so it can mean whatever you want it to, but its wrong. They don't reallymean anything, just tradition.
That was taken directly from the NHL.com article...
Your comment? I typed mine. If your comment was what was in the article, then it is wrong. Well, unless the Capitals just happened to use three stars without it connectiong to all of the other three star DC stuff, which is not realistic. I figure it was a writer/PR person not knowing where the DC three stars come from, trying to come up with a reason, and just pulling it out of their butt.

The Caps have used the DC three stars before, and six stars (two sets of three), and five stats which doesn't fit the agenda.

But saying that the three stars isn't for the DC three star thing would be like saying that the Golden triangle in the Pens logo is for something unrelated to the Pittsburg golden triangle connection.

My comment on what the stars represents comes from the NHL.com article. If you think it’s wrong, I guess you could take it up with the author. The byline is “Washington Capitals” so I would assume they know what they’re meaning to represent.

Jim: It means whatever you want it to mean.

Also Jim: It doesn't mean what you and the team says it means.

What a madlad.

Entire VGK Coaching staff has to self quarantine. GM Kelly McCrimmon to coach tonight's game at Blues.

Cool, they should sign him to a 6-year, $24.6 million contract.
