But nothing will happen because turtle man won’t call a session, correct? So, as usual, his words don’t mean ****, or that rumor was garbage.
Not until next week. They won't vote until after his time is up. Maybe they'll grow a spine? Donny two times

I mean he can still get convicted, but it will just happen after his is out of office. That would still strip him of his pension, and detail, and not let him run for office again etc.

Where the heck did he manage to buy 2,500 rounds of ammunition? I can't even find a single box of .380.

Some of these GOP representatives that voted to impeach are from highly Trumpy districts. The WA-4 guy's district actually went bigger for Trump in '20 than in '16.
I saw something about how the WA primary system would help these congressmen against potential Trumpy primary opponents knocking them out of the general election.

The way I've seen some pundits explain the GOP divide that I think is accurate, is that the factional split is "authoritarian" versus "non-authoritarian" factions. So I don't think it's accurate to look at it from a conservative, more conservative vantage point. Kind of like how Utah is extremely conservative and voted extremely republican, but will likely back Romney over Trump.

It would only bar him from running again. The statute says that presidents who are "removed" from office lose the pension/detail/etc. But if he is already out of office, then he could not be "removed." So the only think a post-term impeachment conviction would attain is a bar from future office.

Get your ballot ready tif...

The ghost of Strom Thurmond says "Hold my sweet tea."

But seriously - I don't understand the need to spend 60+ years in politics.

Someone shared an NBC News segment from when Harvey Milk (and Mayor Moscone of SF) was killed. Dianne Feinstein president of that same Board of Supervisors, and was the one who announced that they had been killed. That was in 1978.
Many moons ago I saw Strom Thurmond "walking" in the capitol.

Where the heck did he manage to buy 2,500 rounds of ammunition? I can't even find a single box of .380.
I have not been around guns much - how heavy are 2,500 rounds and what volume do they take (i.e. what vehicle do I have to bring to make it all fit)?

Boxes usually about 50. Maybe the size of... a box of golf balls. That much ammo is enough to be a stock pile. It’d be heavy as **** to.

Given the loadout cited in the charging document, it was probably a mix of pistol and carbine rounds. All told, some of you probably have dogs that weigh more than 2,500 rounds.

I could for sure be wrong. I was basing it on 9mm rounds. 2500 of those are def heavier than even a large breed dog.

77.4lbs. Probably a couple of magazines loaded and the rest in a backpack.

I suppose you need to find the guy with a bunch of empty magazines and assume they were together.

Despite the emphasis in the tweet, 2,500 rounds is not that much ammo. The size and weight would depend on the caliber involved, but that many rounds would fit easily into a medium-to-large suitcase, for example.

I don’t think the concern here is the weight. Because that’s dumb.

Ah. Well if they shot 2,500 times at our Capitol at least they wouldn't have taken up too much room

To add, here's a chart with round weights:
Image
Just for the sake of spitballing and discussing, let's say he brought 75 30-round magazines of 5.56 (2,250 rounds), and let's say 20 mags of 9mm (300 rounds..... I know that's a bit over 2,500 rounds, just play along). Based on that chart, the 5.56 cache would weigh right around 60 lbs, and the 9mm cache would weigh just over 8 lbs. So that split is under 70 lbs total.

Then again, that doesn't take into account the added weight of the actual magazines.

The only way weight would matter is if these idiots were literally throwing bullets at people by hand.
