I can't believe it's been almost 10 months since the last regular season hockey game. I'm pumped.

I didn't know it was 5:30 either, but I'm kind of glad.

Second time today I've seen @Defence21 snooping around...I see you, pal. State your case for or against Alex Nedeljkovic or be gone... ;)
Haha, I found my way back after having lost my password. I guess the question is, is he still considered a prospect at age 25, or is he a finished product? If there's some growing to do and he still has promise, yeah, let's go after him and waive DeSmith. He might just sneak through and land on the practice squad. Either way, I can't imagine he'd be a downgrade, so why not?

He's getting close, for sure. But he's done really good things in the AHL...he's a smaller goalie that is gonna take some more adjustment to the speed of things...so I'm willing to give an extra 12-18 months...

Note when two similarly sized (but much better) goalies took the reigns finally in Juuse Saros and Jaroslav Halak...both became starters at around 25. Adjusting for talent, fair to think that Ned should make that jump this year if he's anything at all...

I'm not going to be shocked if the Pens don't grab him, but to me, it's a no-brainer. Younger. Cheaper. Better player - much much better player. The only negative is that GMJR would have to do paperwork.

And I'm probably the number one DeSmith supporter here, I would think. I like him more than most

Madden likes DeSmith so I'd be okay with ejecting him just to chap Madden's ass.

Nedeljkovic cleared.

Craig Anderson signed with Washington, on waivers today.

Why are yinz so much more bullish on Nedeljkovic than 31 GMs?

mikey will be able to articulate it better - because he has in the past, but they thought it wasn't worth changing what they already have. Which is a fair stance to take, honestly. And the argument from us was never "this is the next patrick roy." It was, "DeSmith stinks and Ned does not and we can click two buttons to swap them for each other; might as well do it."

Oh I get that much. Just speaking more from a talent and potential perspective.

Maybe its as simple as hes not enough of an upgrade for them to dick their own guy over since that guy has been a consummate pro for them and there's an organizational reputation to uphold.

But I doubt 30 other teams have that scenario.

Probably.

It's a move I would have made every day and twice on Sunday, but I understand not making it.

I read about 20 pages before I realized I still had 150 pages to go to catch up in this thread. Yeesh. And that was already post-suspension of play.

09 team sure is fun to watch but my favs were the 91-92-93 teams. Except of course for the 1993 playoffs. I thought the 92-93 team was unbeatable. 17 in a row just unreal.
93 Pens like the 76 Steelers? Best team, but didn't win it all.

Game got away from them in the third, but short observation from today - Jankowski exceeded my expectations.

Other observation - ice sure looked lousy.

2/3 of Penguins goals this season scored by Providence Friars.

I was gonna brag in the GDT but the Flyers went back up to stay before I got the chance.

I'm not ready to concede the division to the Flyers because they won, especially after one game. Read a lot of comments this morning about them being one of the best teams in the league, after one game.
