I'm curious about the schedule, too, because (just one example) the Avs play the Kings 1/25 and then go to Anaheim for a game 1/26.

Seems like a recipe for disaster, especially if there would be multiple positives on LA that aren't caught until after that game, then you're sending the Avs to go play another team immediately after.

Having (soon to be) 5-year old daughter as well, but being 12 year older than him makes me quite scared...

After missing the first 5 Devils practices for "personal/family reasons", Corey Crawford announced his retirement.

Yeah especially since they were being so vague about his absences, and then this. I hope whatever this issue is, he gets the help he needs to get and is able to come out fine.

Teams are starting to waive large groups of players. Two, Djoos and Forsling, have been plucked so far. No real "oohhh" names on the lists yet though.

No more Milbury, though I am uncertain about giving Mike Babcock that platform given why he was forced out of coaching.

As a Milbury fan I don't like this.

It was only a matter of time before Milbury said something stupid enough to warrant his firing. Hockey will be better off without him.

Considering Babcock was mostly just big meanie, and not a super racist or anything like that, does he not get a chance to learn from his mistakes and rebuild his image...?

I get canceling people that hate people because of their genetics or whatever...but this guy was just a jerk, right? He doesn't get a come to Jesus moment, he just gets bullied back out of his lifelong passion and career forever...?

I dont see him bringing anything to the table that Mike Milbury didn't, to be honest. That includes the negative aspects of Milbury.

I don't know what he'll actually say on the broadcast vs what he isn't willing to do...but if you think they have near the same understanding of the game, you're in outer space...

He bullied and abused players, I think was the TLDR of it

He was a jerk to players...unnecessarily so. He was a bully. But I'm not sure that he ever gratuitously struck a player, I don't recall any overtly racist or sexist behavior...I don't know what the "rules" are on re-entering society though...

Notable waivers today (there should be like a hundred players on waivers today):

Frolik and Corey Perry from Montreal
Tyler Johnson and Luke Schenn in TB
Sven Baertschi and Loui Eriksson from Vancouver
Our old friend Derrick Pouliot from Philly, former 1st round pick Samuel Morin...Chris Bigras too, I would not mind him being on our taxi squad, but that's not really how it works...
Mathieu Perreault from Winnipeg...
Oliver Kylington from Calgary...
Juhjar Khiara from Edmonton...

Florida claimed Noah Juulsen from Montreal. Second d-man claim by Florida...

Rudolfs Balcers from Ottawa, I'd claim him, seriously. Wake up GMJR...

Thomas Hickey, Andrew Ladd from the Isles. Fake #66 Josh Ho-Sang cleared.

Nick Holden from Vegas...

I don't know the rules either, but I didn't think it went from head coach of one of the league's most popular franchises to being an analyst on NBC's primary studio show.
Also, **** Babs.

Well, he didn't...he volunteered as a coach at University of Vermont or whatever...he was willing to all but start over...

That said, him being mean didn't make him forget hockey knowledge...he's going to be able to rise back up again fast because he's a proven commodity...him being dispatched was really just an overcorrection of the market probably...if he can show that he was humbled by the process, I don't know what the problem is...he got too big for his britches and got shot down...same thing happened to Pierre McGuire effectively...

I remember hearing about that but didn't think it panned out. I even went as far as checking wikipedia (because nothing usually slips by the wikinerds) and no mention.

Had I actually went out and searched Mike Babcock Vermont outside of wiki, I would have seen it. :face:
