This Zags team might be pretty good.
If they stay healthy and don’t get the game rescheduled against Baylor, they will enter the Tournament undefeated. They’re like an NBA team out there and there isn’t enough talent thru the lineup on another team that can neutralize the weapons the Zags have. Only way they lose in the WCC is if they have a horrific shooting nite and the opponent is red hot. Only two places I could possibly see that happening is at San Fran and at BYU...and the Zags just eviserated both teams at the Kennel in the last 6 days.

I was surprised the final margin was what, 17? I watched till it was 23-3 and got on with my evening.

Friars up 2 leave some Freshman wide open from 3 with no time left and he buries it. I wanna throw up.

You guys are cornering the market on last-second losses already. But what Xavier did is a rarity. They actually ran an offense and executed and got a great look. Too many teams are all about dribbledribbledribble - ball screen - dribbledribblechuck. That was a breath of fresh air because too many times in just the last week, I've yelled at the TV that coaches are getting paid millions to draw up that crap in an end-of-game scenario.

@Orlando Penguin Can you figure out PSU?

Record is not impressive, but their start to the year improbably includes upsets against Wisky and a twenty point victory over VT, who just beat UVA yesterday. They also played OSU and Michigan really tight.

Yeah, the record says 6-7 but with the exception of the two Illinois games, they have had an opportunity to win every other game. They haven't lost to any crap teams. Their problem is that when they get into those late-game stress situations, they make a number of questionable decisions. They threw the game away against both Michigan and Indiana in those close losses. If they can shore those up and continue to play 40 minutes like they did against Wisconsin yesterday, then they still have a decent opportunity to sneak into the 68. However, their margin of error is virtually nothing and the conference is such a bear this year that there are no nights off except the home game against Nebraska.

Jim Christian fired. He may be a shitty coach outside of the MAC but the best press conference of all time wouldn't exist if he didn't coach at BC

If they wanted to stop the season now and just put Gonzaga, Baylor, Michigan, and Ohio State in the Final Four, I'd be fine with that.

Conference tournament week! Way less buzz than usual this year, it seems. Maybe it's due to COVID, maybe it's that traditional powers like Duke, UNC, Kentucky are weak and will either not make it or, if they do, likely be out early. But Selection Sunday is coming up!

Just found out the round of 64 doesn't start till Friday this year. Sort of disappointing- I love taking Thursday and Friday off and just floating on the sweet cloud of basketball overload. Not going to be the same doing it on a day I have off anyway.

Is the Friday-Monday shift due to COVID and being in one area or is this a permanent change moving forward?

Covid related. They wanted to make sure all the teams were meeting the testing regulations and they figured that with no travel between weekends, they could shift it a day. Same thing happens with the regionals - sweet 16 on saturday/sunday and elite 8 on monday/tuesday.

Freakin' Friars played last night like they had absolutely no interest in playing even one more basketball game this season. Stayed within single digits but never really felt like they were in it against a terrible 4-13 DePaul team.

Oh well.

Duke bounced out of ACC Tourney by a positive covid test and thus likely keeping them out of the Big Dance. A Tournament without Duke is like Christmas without the fruitcake - you won’t miss either one.

Yeah, just saw this. It's been relatively quiet on the COVID front through these conference tournaments/end of season. Hopefully there isn't some outbreak.

Great effort on the comeback but you've got 20 seconds left on the final possession and you don't even get a shot? That's a sign of a poorly coached team. Run an offense, get a shot with 5-7 seconds left so if it's a miss, you have options still. Nope. Dribble dribble dribble dribble, chuck...or in this case, a turnover. Get ready cuz you're gonna see it happen more and more in the next 2 weeks and it'll happen to teams coached by millionaire coaches.

Virginia out of ACC Tourney with a positive covid test. Might make them in trouble for protocols in Indy. Really have to hand it to the NCAA and the conferences for their lack of foresight.

Oh man, yeah, this is going to be crazy if this is a thing. I think they've done a good job overall considering the circumstances throughout the year, but when you get into the tourney, and playing like every other day or every day for the conference tourney's, that is going to be a big issue.

I don't know what you can do though. These aren't professional leagues like the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB where you can negotiate with a union on specific protocals to follow, especially when the kids are going to class, etc.

Kansas out of the Big 12 tournament with a positive covid case. It probably stems from their leading scorer getting dinged earlier this week.
