The bottle of champagne on Ms Berry's table there, is Veuve Clicquot.

There is zero chance that I would have guessed that was Halle Berry. Kind of a douchey photo.

So instead of the shitshow on ESPN last night during primetime, (thanks shad!) I watched On Her Majesty's Secret Service again. It's very good, very underrated. In fact, I wished Lazenby stuck around for a few more films.

Diana Rigg, whom I had just watched in Detectorists (thanks, Gaucho!), was something else in 1969...yikes.

Now watching Diamonds are Forever, and didn't know that Plenty O'Toole was Natalie Woods' sister. Also yikes.

Watched soul today. Perhaps I’m just a big dumb dumb, but I didn’t see or feel any “unapologetic blackness” to it. The main character was a blue blob and a cat for the majority of the movie. There’s certainly nothing in the vein of roots or remember the Titans.

Anyone making a stink about it being “black” needs something to do with their lives.

It’s not Pixar’s best work, but it’s enjoyable.

I would say Wall-E is unapologetically environmental.

What’s nice about Soul is that it’s a universal story that happens to have a black protagonist. It neither ignores nor emphasizes his race. His experiences and community are specific to black culture, but that doesn’t define the character. It’s simply a good story. I would imagine that it’s refreshing for a black child to see themselves represented on screen and have it not just be about race. It’s something that I definitely have taken for granted.

Nice. That's what I was hoping for it earlier. Or, any story.

Perfect summary IMO.

Fantastic.

Agreed on Wall-E, it was all about environmentalism and how wasteful humans are and the message couldn't have been more blunt (and needed, frankly).

Just finished it, and agree completely. Wish there was more music in it, personally, but I am unapologetically okay with the movie otherwise.

We watched it last night as well. Agreed that it wasn't Pixar's best, although that's hardly a criticism given their track record. We liked it, more music would have indeed been nice. Solid 8/10 for me.

I'm glad the unapologetic thing has become a meme.

Watched two towers last night. I can't get over how good these 4k discs are. It's like watching these for the first time again. I'm actually excited to follow these up with the hobbit extended editions.

I got these for Christmas too! I am beyond excited to watch these with my daughter. Thinking I will watch with her around the time she is 8 or 9. I want her to be old enough to appreciate it.

The good news for me is that since we don't have a 4K TV yet, when we do upgrade things like the LOTR EE discs will have made their way to the sale bin. :D

Also, Soul really resonated with me in a way similar to Moana. To the point where I can say while it may objectively not be the best work the studio has ever done, it ranks a little higher on Tif's Grand List Of Movie Rankings maybe a few spots higher than it would normally merit just because of that personal connection.

WW84 was a total mess. There were some fun parts, but it struggled to find its tone. Plus it was simply way too long.

And she forgot to use her sword and shield (I think)

What the **** happened to her face and voice? Face didn’t move and her voice sounds nothing like I remember.

Well great. Now I have to go back and watch. I forgot about post-credit scenes.
