I bought mine from Advance Auto.Where do you buy DieHard's now that Sears closed all their auto centers?I think it was a DieHard Gold. For my Wrangler. I'll get a little back when I return the old battery.

Something I hadn’t really thought about with all of the cameras and sensors on new cars, is the price to replace front windshield. I was reading a long term review of a Hyundai Palisade - which seems to be an excellent vehicle, to the point that the author’s sister traded her newish Acura MDX for one after his recommendation - where he went on a road trip and cracked the windshield.
He went to a dealer, who couldn’t get a new one in for a month and it was $2500 to replace it. The windshield was $1300 itself, but the dealership has to calibrate the windshield for the cameras and sensors - the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, headlights, and so on.
The reviewer ended up having Safelite replace the glass for less than the dealership, and then the dealership at home calibrated the glass/cameras etc. for $300. Evidently, it pays to shop around between Hyundai dealerships, as the parts and labor are different because they are independently owned. I wouldn’t even think to get glass repaired/replaced at a dealership, unless it was a warranty job, to be honest.

My wife's jeep cherokee controls all of that through the front bumper camera (I believe). She has park assist, adaptive cruise, self parking.
Though she does have the heated wiper strips, and rain sensing wiper speed. It was $450 to replace her windshield.
Most insurance plans will cover glass for a small fee and $100 deductible.

By the way, the Palisade and Telluride are both sharp looking vehicles. Just that damn depreciation with Kia/Hyundai that kills you.

My Pilot has the camera array in front of the rear view mirror, so I’d be in that boat should the windshield break. With the shitty roads here, I’ve replaced a windshield at least once for each of the cars I’ve owned in the last 12 years.

Yeah, in SC at least, windshield repairs and replacements are covered with car insurance. No idea about the calibration cost though, which Safelite can’t do.

Speaking of sensors, my Regal's side-detection radar sensors under the rear bumper went bad from corrosion a while ago. Dealer wants over $1000 for the two new replacement sensors and the harness. Yeah, think I'll go with not having the side mirrors light up when someone is in my blind spot until I can find good used southern replacements.

All the sensors in my 61 Vette seem to be working fine.

I have a backup camera and that’s about it. None of the others interest me.

My buddy has a 91. Just bought remanufactured injectors. He installed them and now gas is coming up through the wiring harness on three of them. All the sensors in my 61 Vette seem to be working fine.

91 C4? Hope it’s a ZR-1.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
It's not. That's his dream car but he uses this car for racing and he doesn't think he'd have the heart to cut up a ZR-1. It does have the Z07 suspension package. *finger twirl*

That’s too bad. The 91 was the first year of those wrap around lights IIRC. I built a plastic model of it when I was a kid. On this topic, I may be one of the few who just hates what the Corvette has become in terms of style. Don’t care about the power plant, it just looks so bad to me - especially the rear end.

Yeah, I still haven't warmed up to the C8. I need to rent one, that's what got me to come around on the C7.

My van is really, really bad in the snow. So I bought snow tires for it in the hope that would be enough to keep it from spinning on the slightest of inclines. Rather than swap the rubber at a garage twice a year I just went to that really great pull-it yard in Penn Hills and got some nearly identical wheels off of a mid-90s F-250. Same size, bolt-pattern, offset. And I grabbed some old-style hub caps for it. Out the door at the yard it was $80 for the wheels and center caps.
This is what it normally looks like, with bare black wheels (sorry for the distant pic, nobody takes pics of utility vehicles without a reason):
Here is one of the wheels, and the caps when I was pulling them at the yard:
And here is how it looks now after I painted the wheels white and cleaned up the hub caps:
For something that made sense to do anyway I really liked how much it changed the character of the vehicle. I kind of want to turn it into an ice cream truck now.
If this doesn't fix my winter traction problems I'm going to get a new rear axle for it and put in an LSD. And/or just carry a portable winch with me since I need one for race car stuff anyway.

90's Corvettes were way uglier. I like the looks of the C8 very much, but the best looking vette is 1968 imo.

Totally thought the first pic and paragraph was about you sliding off the road due to bad tires.

Might want to put a few hundred pounds directly over the rear axle. A couple heavy steel plates bolted to the floor would be ideal.

Never cared for that body style - even the 63 split-window. Just meh.

For now, the summer wheels are back there but that kind of ruins the utility of it.Might want to put a few hundred pounds directly over the rear axle. A couple heavy steel plates bolted to the floor would be ideal.

Yep, thus the flat plate. Anything else is in the way, and a potential projectile. For now, the summer wheels are back there but that kind of ruins the utility of it.Might want to put a few hundred pounds directly over the rear axle. A couple heavy steel plates bolted to the floor would be ideal.
