Every other commercial that I’ve seen this week is for Discovery+, yet another streaming service. $5/month with ads, $7/month ad-free. And absolutely nothing special about it, unless you want to watch Joanna Gaines cook in a kitchen that I will assume is decorated in whitewashed ship lap.

Nobody is going to subscribe to Discovery+.

You will when Discovery pulls all of their networks off of YouTube TV, SlingTV, fubo, Hulu Live and so on.
I am shocked that YTTV doesn’t have History Channel for $65 a month.

No I won’t. I can’t even name a single show I watch on Discovery. I get they’ll be adding HGTV shows also but I can’t name a single HGTV show that’s appointment viewing. Isn’t that just a network you turn on when you don’t want to think about choosing a show so instead you watch whatever rerun of whatever remodeling show is currently airing? You will when Discovery pulls all of their networks off of YouTube TV, SlingTV, fubo, Hulu Live and so on.

Yeah, I mean I wouldn't pay for it either. But someone will.
PBS took all of their streaming content off of Amazon and now have their own streaming service. I'd pay for that over Discovery tbh

I watch a ton of content in Discovery and their networks, but I don’t see them adding all shows there. If they moved Deadliest Catch or something like that, I’d **** boycott their asses.

I had to stop watching Deadliest Catch. It got way too scripted.

If Discovery+ would carry all of the HGTV, ID, Food Network, Discovery, and TLC shows, I might be able to subscribe to that and drop YoutubeTV. I'd just need to find a place for local channels.

I never noticed that History isn't on YTTV.

I’m a long hauler, love the show. Nick on the Summer Bay (Wild Bill’s boat) just died last week.I had to stop watching Deadliest Catch. It got way too scripted.

Summer Bay is Bill’s own boat. The others he captained were owned by other people.

Very unfortunate... Seemed like he had turned things around. I'm sure Bill is devastated.... Seemed like he viewed Nick as a son (or what he wanted his actual son to be).

I hadn’t heard the part about drugs, but that was my guess. Like you said, I thought he had turned things around last year.33. Any recommendations for projectors? Ours will be going in our basement, so mostly a dark space and quite a bit of room. Doesn’t need to be high quality, and something that won’t break the bank (less than a grand).

New TV showed up last week. TV stand finally showed up after O'stock have me zero updates over the last 10 days. Finally get it out together, and the damn thing is too shallow. Like the feet are to the edge of the stand. I
Thought about getting tipping straps, but I really prefer not to put any more holes in my wall. My plan is to get tempered glass that barely overhangs to put on top until I have a true plan B.

Can you strap the TV to the stand instead?
I have my TV attached to my stand, and the stand attached to the wall. Works very well.

Sony’s 2021 TV lineup runs Google TV and fully embraces HDMI 2.1
My TV's only a few years old, but I'm certainly going to look into this once released. In 2021, Sony is correcting course: all of its premium “Bravia XR” 4K (and yes, 8K) TVs support 4K at 120Hz, VRR (variable refresh rate), ALLM (auto low latency mode), and eARC. No asterisks or gotchas or promises to add stuff later with firmware updates.

the TCL I bought downstairs recently supports all of that ..well not 8k, but 4k at 120hz, VRR, HDMI 2.1 etc. I'm pretty sure the Hisense I have does too, but not sure.
In any event over the next couple years I'm sure this will slowly start becoming standard on all but the budget models.

While I love my TV, it's 60Hz - which didn't matter before the XSX - and has no eARC support. Sony failed to provide firmware updates to enable some of that stuff, which I'm disappointed by.

My Fios contract was up in early December. I’m now on a contractless plan for internet only 200/200 for $39.99
Without autopay the plan is $49.99.
I don’t know if Verizon ditched the contracts for Fios so
any of yinz with Fios may want to check yo plans and sign up for autopay to get a potential $10/m discount.

They still have the contracts. Mine ended a few months ago, and I let it expire to keep all of my discounts in tact. I'm paying around $163/month for the second highest TV package, gigabit internet, and VOIP. I don't have the $10 autopay discount because I use a credit card that earns more in bonus points. My Fios contract was up in early December.
