I use the air fryer for potatoes and reheating stuff I want to be crispy. That’s about it.

Steaks are good in the air fryer in a pinch (aka a giant snowstorm that stops me from getting to my grill). I've used mine for wings, but the capacity is so small, it didn't seem worth it. I use the pressure cooker for wings now, then throw them in the oven on convection to crisp them up.

I've made just about everything in our Ninja air fryer and never had an issue. Chicken wings, tenders, breasts, whole chickens, cornish hens, baked potatoes, pork loins, etc. I haven't made much with beef, but only because I don't eat much beef.

Our air fryer has damn near replaced our sous vide at this point. Chicken thighs with the skin on come out absolutely perfectly. Homemade French fries or sweet potato fries are amazing.
If you want a good general guide for air fryer cooking times, this is a really good one:

My wife had made mention that instant pot makes an air fryer lid that you can convert your instant pot into an airfryer... might have to take a look at that.

Mrs Tif is exceedingly awesome. However, there is a clear delineation between my realm and the rest of the house. The only time she holds sway is, as mentioned, when company is coming over. I not only usually ditch the water bath, but I also put my tool/spoon holders under the counter, and generally clean the whole thing up. When you open our front door, literally the first thing you see inside our house is the end of our kitchen island where all that stuff sits out.I’m genuinely surprised that you guys leave your sous vide stuff out on the counter all the time. My wife would kill me.

I did nuggets and onion rings today. Good stuff.

I already have an instant pot... If I just need to buy a different lid for it to turn it into an air fryer, that'll be the route I take.

I cooked some beer brats sous vide. So good. Why did I take so long to get on the sous vide train?

Do you own an air fryer yet? If not, jump on the train now.I cooked some beer brats sous vide. So good. Why did I take so long to get on the sous vide train?

Made air fryer wings.
Probably going to make them once a week from now until 2030.

One of my favorite things to cook in our air fryer now is sweet potato fries. My own recipe:
Ingredients:
• 1 large sweet potato, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch wide fries
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1/4 teaspoon pepper
• 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/8 teaspoon ground sweet paprika
• 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°
2. Combine sweet potato fries and olive oil in a bowl and mix. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cinnamon. Mix until all fries are evenly coated
3. Place an even layer of sweet potatoes in the fry basket, insert in the air fryer, and cook until golden, about 9-10 minutes
So simple, yet so good. *chef’s kiss*

When recipes say "preheat air fryer"
1. Why?
2. How?

Most air fryers that I've seen already do this - you set the time and temperature, and it preheats the basket to the desired temp. Once that's done, you simply add the food and go. If you want a good example of why this should be your standard practice, try cooking chicken in there without preheating. It'll stick. If you preheat the basket, it helps a lot. When recipes say "preheat air fryer"

I'll have to look at the manual on my ninja. I'm not sure there is a preheat option. I just turn it on a minute before and threw the stuff in when it said preheat.

Our tiny local Chinese takeout is doing pad Thai today. They took pre-orders because they said they needed 20 orders to not lose money (there's an expensive ingredient that spoils quickly? Idk what it is..) so we're pretty stoked for lunch as the closest place to get pad Thai to us is at least 30 mins away. Apparently theirs is amazing, I've never had it but they only have done it one other time.

There was a thai restaurant about 5 minutes from us when we first bought this house that had the best pad thai that I've ever had. They ended up closing unexpectedly, and I was pretty bummed out. However, the restaurant that replaced it was also a thai/chinese place, and their pad thai is even better. In fact, their chinese food is the best I've ever had, also. My wife loves their sushi, and they have a full bubble tea bar. We really lucked out.Our tiny local Chinese takeout is doing pad Thai today. Us too honestly, this takeout place is a husband and wife who work their asses off and they always have a $6 daily lunch special that includes soup, Main, and fried rice. For a town of 4k people we really did luck out having them and I try to support all I can.

Try adding some corn starch to the seasoning mix. It adds some crunch that’s hard to get with sweet potatoes. One of my favorite things to cook in our air fryer now is sweet potato fries. My own recipe:

I'm looking forward to tif giving some speech on thai food and the planting seasons of tamarind fruit or something, but no, there really isn't any expensive ingredient in there. Our tiny local Chinese takeout is doing pad Thai today. that being said, this post, plus watching some shows on tastemade about street food in Indonesia and Malaysia last night are really giving me a hankering for some stir fry

I wish I had more access to Indian food. Outside of an instant pot chicken tikka masala and Kenny Kangaroo’s excellent aloo chana soup, I don’t get to eat it much. I live with a bunch of lame losers who don’t like spicy food.

Anyone using air fryer mode on their oven? It's definitely nicer having more room rather than using the smaller one in shifts, but the timing appears to be all different which I assume is because of the bigger space?

Ditto. Only one kid in my house likes spicy food and my wife's idea of spicy is a dash of pepper.I wish I had more access to Indian food. There are two Indian places in state college. Ask any Indian person which one is better they say the one. Ask any Chinese person which one is better, they say the other.
The other nice thing about state college is that each Chinese place specializes in a certain region. There’s a Szechuan place, a Cantonese place, a Taiwanese place, a Hong Kong place, and then three or four that try to do it all and can’t. Lol
