I recall there was a plan to do that. As a fan I kind of hope they don't. Baseball is so granular and expansive that on a three game series you can effectively have three different teams field each game. With hockey it's the same game three times, except each time it gets tighter.

Didn’t realize they were doing the taxi squad again, though that makes sense.
Do the Pens have a third goalie on an NHL contract other than Larmi? The salary cap remains at $81.5 million and teams will be permitted to have a 23-man roster that is compliant with that number. But, because of travel restrictions and potential quarantine rules if a player must be called up from the AHL on short notice, NHL teams will now also be allowed to carry a taxi squad of four-to-six players in the 2020-21 season.
Taxi squad players will be permitted to practice and travel with the NHL team, but will only count against the cap or be allowed to play in a game if they are “called up” to the pro roster. These moves will be subject to regular re-call rules, so if a player would require waivers to be sent from the pro roster to the AHL, he will similarly need to pass waivers to be sent back to the taxi squad. Contract rules will also be in effect — a player on a one-way contract who is assigned to the taxi squad will receive their full NHL salary, while those on two-way contracts would receive their minor league pay while on the taxi squad.
Teams must carry a minimum of three goalies with them at all times, whether it’s all three on the pro roster, or one available on the taxi squad. Players on the taxi squad will not be permitted to practice or play with any other organization outside of the NHL team.

My thoughts as well. With the structure for this season there is already so much opponent redundancy that I really don’t need every game to be part of a 3 game series against the same team.I recall there was a plan to do that. Pens will be bussing to NYC? Boston?Scheduling will be interesting. Travel isn’t an issue for the east where they can bus everywhere, but I remember them floating the idea of baseball style (or even minor league hockey style) series to help cut down on travel.

Not saying they’re going to, but they realistically could if **** hit the fan with travel restrictions as the season progresses. On the other hand, San Jose isn’t bussing to St. Louis.Pens will be bussing to NYC? Boston?Scheduling will be interesting. If **** hit the fan so much that the team can't take a private charter flight from Pittsburgh to Boston, they probably shouldn't be playing hockey.

These guys park like on the tarmac and walk through a special secure area and then straight to the plane right? If **** hit the fan so much that the team can't take a private charter flight from Pittsburgh to Boston, they probably shouldn't be playing hockey.

Depends on the airport and how the aircraft is configured. Plenty of airports are going to have a FBO (fixed base operator) that can handle large general-aviation aircraft. For example, the FBO at Greater Pitt is Atlantic Aviation, and the General Aviation ramp is over where the old terminal used to be. If an airport's FBO operator could handle some Richie Rich with a Gulfstream, they can handle a chartered 737 or A320. The players would go though the FBO's facilities and not the commercial terminal.
I'm not sure who would be flying the Penguins. For years they chartered their flights through Miami Air International, but Miami declared bankruptcy and went out of business earlier this year. I haven't seen any info on who would be the replacement.

It is LOL that Edmonton and Vegas have the same number of playoff wins over the last 20 years.

Time zones probablyColorado, St. Louis, Minnesota to the Central, Dalls, Miami, Tampa to the South/West. I assume they considered it and had their reasons to dismiss it.

I still think we could have added at least one more Cup in a number of those Crosby injury riddled seasons, like 2011(?).

I wonder if things might have been different if Brooks hadn't shot Crosby in the face.

That 2013 season was very frustrating...that's one that got away in a lot of different ways...

'96 and '13 are the two stains on what has been an otherwise enjoyable Pens experience in my lifetime. They both bother me more than '93 or the X-Gen years.
