I need a ruling on this

I went the good boy route with our first born and the nanny we hired to watch him. Created my own business with employer ID and everything, took out taxes on her pay, gave her receipts, etc. Never again. Wasn't worth the hassle.

Gray raw hamburger from the freezer (been there since late Sept). To eat or not to eat?

I'm thawing it out now.

Gray? Not a good color for meat.

Smell it. If using for tacos or chili it’s probably fine.

I'm going to cook it and see if there's a smell. If it's even somewhat borderline, I'll give it to the dogs.

If it has been frozen that whole time, I wouldn't have any qualms about cooking and eating it. (Providing it doesn't have an off smell once thawed)

Yeah, it's been frozen. Don't know why it has that pale, gray color on the surface as it's red inside. I'm cooking it now. Smells like hamburger.

Should be fine as long as you aren’t making burgers or meatloaf.
Lasagna will provide good cover.

Re: freezer burn - yeah, that's probably what it was. I really need to get a vacuum sealer. Regular freezer bags suck.

Haven't made lasagna in a few months. Should be enough for 4 meals ha.

Oxygen changes the color of the outside from red to brownish gray. Freezer burn makes it look even more gray. You're all set

The other way around. Oxygen contact with meat reacts with the myoglobin to make it appear red; lack of oxygen contact (like being sealed up in a Ziploc bag for 3 months) will make it go brown.

Figured it'd be dead by now if it was ziploc bagged in the freezer for that long

Oh that's right. That's why it's red on the outside and brown on the inside sometimes

A podcast I was listening to had a big fan response to the breakfast behavior of one of the hosts: ketchup on eggs. (Hello MiMH)

Much like ketchup on hot dogs in Chicago, I had no idea this was verboten. It was just a thing we do.

Is ketchup on scrambled eggs wrong? Or are they the dadhole?

I put a little ketchup on my plate and dab the egg in as needed. My wife squirts it directly on the eggs which is too much for me, but not something I would bother bringing up to her.

I can’t properly weigh in on this because I stopped using ketchup for.. well anything...about the same time I stopped pissing my pants.

I'd suggest trying hot sauce instead

Some guy wrote in from Canada and said it's normal to put it on poutine. They lost me there.
