Can anyone identify this bird I saw on my foggy walk this morning?

My first thought is Sharp-Shinned Hawk.

Yeah, my guess is a young red-tailed.

Hmm. It didn't look red enough to me and seemed too small, but obviously that would make sense if it was a juvenile. When I went back later in the day, it was just chilling by the pond walking around. Very un-hawk like, which lends credence to both of your theory.

It used the dead spider on its tail as a lure!

It's not a dead spider, it's the actual tail. Hence the name spider-tailed viper. ;)

Yup. A place up by you @Willie Kool had the best bison burger I ever had. Place in Meadville called Montana’s
Montana's was/is a chain owned by Ted Turner. Named after his ranch in Montana.

I took my daughter to lay wreaths on veteran gravestones with her Girl Scout troop yesterday for the Wreaths Across America program. We were getting ready to drive out of the lot of the church when she told me she saw a "hawk" up on the radio tower across the road. Upon closer look, it was a bald eagle nesting up there. I've only seen a small handful in all my years living in PA and was cool to see it yesterday.

Took this pic with my phone through my daughter's binoculars

Helped operate the two streaming cameras in Pittsburgh a couple years back. Got to go to the sites to help set up the equipment. Absolutely massive birds with huge nests. The nests can weigh up to a ton, and saw one close up at a rescue out in California. Unfortunately the one in California decided to rest on a transformer and blew it's feet off so it will never live in the wild again.
