I would rather have a heavy shot on the power play with a lower hit-the-net-ratio than a weak wrist shot with a high hit-the-net-ratio...
Is it possible to have Gonchar train our defensemen? Or perhaps he did. I seem to recall that he was very good at hitting the net on the PP...

Gonchar doesn't work here anymore...

Hard shots that miss the net usually lead to easy clears. I'll take accuracy over hardness any day (twsns). As far as his shooting goes, wasn't Gonchar similar to Letang?

Gonchar had a better slapshot and one-T...

Oh, no doubt. He seemed to prefer wristers, iirc, but I could be wrong.

That's not my recollection, but it could very well be right...I think Gonchar was poundin them from back there pretty often, even towards the end of his time with us...

"unblocked shot attempt"
Add in shots that hit the guy right in front of them and Letang's shots to about 98.3%

Did it come with a hanger?
If it did, did you eat it?

See that wasn't so hard. Now I can hate myself for not picking one up.

Haha I reference that often...it's gonna get hung up in my room as a constant reminder that I need to keep improving...Did it come with a hanger?
If it did, did you eat it?
Me saying that actually ended up being the tiebreaker between the other jerseys that were available...

No, you’re correct. Gonch was elite at setting for the booming one timer and having it be very accurate. Pick to Whitney, softly back to Gonch, puck hammered at the net. It was beautiful. That's not my recollection, but it could very well be right...I think Gonchar was poundin them from back there pretty often, even towards the end of his time with us...

More times than not, a wrist shot that has eyes is the tougher play for the goalie than the bigger boomer from the point. The wristers have a better chance of getting redirected and often then can be more difficult to control. Plus more guys are willing to create a screen with a wrist shot.

I prefer the hard accurate shot. Both work. IMO a booming shot is more useful because it will cause the PK unit to spread a little more thin than they’d like to in order to stop that shot. That spreading opens things up in the middle of the box which is deadly for a passer like Crosby or Malkin.More times than not, a wrist shot that has eyes is the tougher play for the goalie than the bigger boomer from the point. The slapshot has been sliding in popularity for a while now, because of the pace of the game and the back pressure among other reasons...I'll be interested to see what happens to it when some of the old guys (Chara, Weber) leave the game and there isn't a lot of models to craft yourself after...these new age guys like Heiskanen, Hughes, Makar, they mostly don't have them...Jake Sanderson, who went 5th overall, his worst attribute is his shot...et cetera...

FYI for those in the same boat: Received an e-mail over the weekend from Verizon stating that my Center Ice package would be renewed around January 1st. You have until 12/21 to cancel.
