That's significant, if it all pans out.

Edit: Wait a minute Freddy....were you being cheeky with "Peace in our Time" with Neville Chamberlain/Munich appeasement?

It was definitely a I'll believe it when I see it statement.

But if this was anyone else was doing this it would be breaking news.

I mean...these are the smart people's reaction.

I'm certainly interested in WTH prompted this. There were no real indications or talks leading up to this, no intense negotiations that I can tell, so what's happening behind the scenes?

No one in the Middle East likes the Palestinians and they basically had a veto over negotiations between Israel and Gulf States in the past. Trump/Kushner basically told the Palestinians to take a hike and so the Gulf States were able to negotiate with Israel without the Palestinians getting in the way.

Also the Gulf States see Iran as a threat so they want Israeli/USA protection.

20K more troops in the Middle East, Iran with 10x more enriched uranium, letting a Saudi Prince get away with murder and selling arms to them despite Congress's attempts to stop it as they attempt to obliterate Yemen and create "the largest humanitarian crisis in the world" (pre COVID).
And in the East he's been totally played by N. Korea.

Kind of a toss up. If you give Trump credit for the peace, then you basically admit that letting the Saudi's get away with anything they wanted was the cost of "peace."

Cross my fingers it'll be worth it.

Normalising relations is certainly good, but I don't see how the region is any closer to a lasting peace.

Don’t we have less troops there now than at the beginning of 2016?

Iran was going to have that anyway, but now they are severely handicapped economically.

It's always funny to me when I see the phrase "weapons of war".

That is the express, literal purpose of the 2nd Amendment.
I think Portland proved no one actually cares about the 2nd amendment. All these muh guns, muh 2nd amendment people were silent when the secret police showed up.
What does that have to do with the 2nd Amendment?
A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

That free state thing was being pretty heavily violated.

The last two administrations let Saudis get away with no consequences for 9/11 so...

I'm a moron so I'm still not getting what that has to do with the 2nd Amendment.

Maybe the 4th would be better?

If I'm understanding you correctly, there were a variety of instances where the "state" used force on unarmed civilians that the 2A/Militia regulated men should have been up in arms about, but it was for the wrong cause, so they looked the other way.

I believe that hypocrisy will always exist, but I think that was the point you were trying to make as I understood it.

The child molester didn't have the gun. The burglary felon that survived from the bicep injury had the gun.

I never really understood how fascism as a political doctrine was different than despotism or something

Maybe fascism is the vehicle for an authoritarian government
