John Daly has bladder cancer.
I'm honestly shocked it took this long. He's been gambling with his health for decades.

I made birdie or par on more than half the holes in my round on Thursday and was nowhere close to breaking 80. When I make mistakes, I go big on them. :face:
when you get to play courses in cities that you're working, do you bring your clubs with you or borrow some?

Him still being alive is surprising.

I will bring mine along with me if I think there’s a chance I might play. However, that’s pretty few and far between and requires me to stay an extra day or get in super early on Monday. As it is, the only times that it’s a REQUIREMENT that I take them is when I go to Masters (to be ready for media lottery success), Pebble Beach (if not there, I’ll play somewhere in the area), and British Open. I haven’t taken them this year but they will go with me to Philly next month for the LPGA event since I’ll spend some time at home afterwards.

I didn't realize the ladies were at Aronimink this year. I used to live about two miles from there.

October 8-11. I'd say 'be there or be square' but they're not allowing spectators so it'll be another week that I don't splatter a gallery member on the hood of my cart or high-stick one with a tripod.

Alright golf fans, consider this your PSA for the upcoming US Open. Unfortunately, my dumb company is putting the evening portion of Thursday & Friday's coverage online. So, from 5-7pm for the first 2 rounds, the golf can be found on Peacock. It's free to download but you still have to go to the effort of getting it and then watching it streaming. Again, it's pretty sad that a network uses a big event like this to drive traffic to their online platform. And this after I railed about ESPN doing it with the PGA Championship. I apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

ugh. I hate watching sports online. I hope it will be ad-free. if I want to check in on anything else I've got to find the remote to the TV to change the input. what a PITA!
appreciate the warning though.

First prediction - Danny Noonan will be more relevant this week than Phil Mickelson will be once play starts.

Upgraded Peacock for the start of the EPL. This is the worst interface I’ve ever dealt with for a streaming service.

I know most of y'all probably don't watch much in the way of LPGA but today, they held the final round of their major out in the California desert (107 degrees ftw) and the winner, Mirim Lee, chipped in for birdie at 6, chipped in for birdie at 16, and then chipped in for eagle at 18 while down 2 to get into a playoff where she'd win with a birdie on the first playoff hole. I need to get a few tips around the green from her.

I watch the LPGA a lot. I learn more from the women than I do from the men.

I can't remember if I've said it here, but women's golf is much more "realistic" to watch for the average weekend hacker, because none of them cut the course by hitting 350 yard bombs. There's so much more strategy to how they approach the game that you can take with you beyond "ha ha driver go smash"

Got my first look at Winged Foot today and lemme tell ya, the rough is NO JOKE. I watched a number of groups search extra time for balls hit there when marshals weren't around. I tossed a few into the rough and had I not seen them go in, I'd have had a very difficult time finding them. The USGA cut the rough a bit today but won't touch it the rest of the week. No rain in the forecast but it will still be a healthy 3-5 inches. Then, you get to the greens and there really isn't too many flat parts on any of the greens. Lots of false fronts. Plenty of bunkering where the floors are a good foot below the green surface. So if you miss the fairway off the tee, you'll be praying for par...forget making any birdies out of the rough this week. Gonna have to pick somebody who hits a ton of fairways and won't take any chances firing at sucker pins.
