I’d take Nurse. His hockey sense isn’t great, but he’s still a good player. Terrific athlete.

Terrific athlete, one of the best athletes I've seen come into the league...but he's messy and unkempt against sustained attacks, and a lot of promising rush chances just die on his stick...hockey sense is just too low for him to be anything more than, well, Jack Johnson...pretty similar styles of play when they first came in, I expect them to have a similar career trajectory...

Perfect target for GMJR, then.

You look at Adam Larsson, and he's a shutdown d-man and pretty tough to play against and RHS...but he's only got one more year before UFA and, man, you just can't keep throwing out guys that don't move the puck very well and don't join the rush very well and expect to score at this level...you have to attack with four...a defense that contains Dumo, Pet-Pet, Johnson, and Larsson is just not super conducive to scoring...you have to use four forwards on each power play unit...which isn't horrible with us, because I'm fairly confident right now in the 4th line to go out there after a special teams situation, but still...it's just stretching everyone thin on a team that really feels rudderless in a lot of ways...

Yea we definitely need our D to start providing some offensive output, directly and indirectly. I like Pettersson but I'm starting to believe he's very duplicative in this lineup. Solid D, provides zero offensive oophm, and isn't a high end puck mover. We have our defensive guys to fill out each pairing in Dumo, JJ, Ruhwedal. POJ and Rikola are going to be held up on the left side with those guys in front of them. I wouldn't be opposed to moving Pettersson if we could somehow get our hands on a guy that pushed the offense more.

I don't think you can do anything with Pettersson (he just signed an extension, so that's one) because you're just gonna end up getting him in a different shade back, right? It's like a Lucic for Neal kind of trade probably...not quite those tough contracts, but like Pettersson and something for Larsson or whatever, just get the handedness right...but otherwise, I don't think a team would give up a young asset or a future asset to get Pettersson...he has value, but in just a straight deal...
Mike Matheson really fell out of favor in Florida, and he's certainly a goner...I don't know what happened to him, but he looks a fright this season...but if they paired him with like a Henrik Borgstrom or an Aleksi Heponiemi, could that do it for Pettersson, maybe...but I'm skeptical about us bringing in garbage dump d-men with Martin and Gonchar gone, I really think they were the magic of fixing these d-men...hopefully I'm wrong and they just magically got better on their own here...

I would like to at least have an idea with what GMJR is doing with the D corps. We have, what, 7 guys signed for next year already? And 2 are net positives when it comes to offense. Not a good look right now. I'm really on board with someone who plays on the right and drives the offense...but how in the world are we gonna find someone like that?

Thinking out loud here: does anyone think Sami Vatanen would fit that role well? I know he has Bennettitis but a one year flyer on him could be good move

What a jersey. I had no idea Wregget finished his career with the Moose while Hedberg was playing with the Pens.
