So the Indy 500 was yesterday.

Neat.
I have nothing nice to say.

FIN.

Had a family friendly pool, won by my oldest who didn’t leave the couch the whole race. My middle one gave up when Rossi crashed. My youngest just liked the opportunity to snuggle dad (he’s a Hinch fan).
Got to meet Hinch when he was still in Atlantics; good dude, good Kimi Raikkonen impression.

Rossi had a mad bonkers restart iirc about an hour in. Someone ahead of him got checked up and bunched up several cars, and he made like 7 positions between exiting T1 and entering T3.

He actually followed Helio through, and if you didn’t recognize the yellow car you’d have forgotten he was even in the race. Still hard to believe Mike Hull got snookered on strategy and advised Dixon to let Sato through thinking they all still had to conserve some fuel.

I was going to say the same thing. Everyone is swinging from Rossi's dick on that cluster of passes but he followed another car the whole way through. He was just the camera car.

Hey, where did Alonso finish? Oh, right, NOBODY CARES.

When the race was over I flipped on Youtube and there was a Live Broadcast of a Spanish feed for the race. I turned it on out of curiosity and they were showing Renault era highlights of Alonso.

Race wheels finally got delivered from my March order...except only 3 of 4 showed up. Might have to stick to oval racing for a while.

The entire package is utter trash-junk. They'll collect points as the season goes on because of the changes that have been made to scoring, but the car is clearly about as competitive as the '92 and '93 cars that were liquid s**t and still give me nachtmares.

Remember when Ferrari also signed on to running the 2020 cars again in 2021?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Blame Claire.
Claire FIRED.

I actually don't have anything against her, and it's sad to see the Williams' purged from F1.

Bought my new trailer today. It's a five year old 24' aluminum enclosed. It's longer than I wanted by about 4 feet, but the guy that owned it built a little living area in the front which means I can move into that at the race track instead of sleeping in the van. It has carpet, A/C, television, power outlets, a screen door, etc. A ton of small creature comforts, the guy that owned it was really handy and took good care of it while making modest improvements.

It dwarfs my van, and it's tall as hell. Catches the wind on the highway for sure:

Came with this stabilizing and load leveling hitch, pretty cool, all new to me:

Snapshot of the living area. It's not framed well because I was actually taking a picture of the bunk futon for a for sale ad. But you can see the carpet, floor covering (linoleum?), TV, AC and other finished bits. We're dumping that furniture and are just going to put our oversize inflatable mattress in there.

I was starting to price small Class C RVs and very short car-only trailers then I came across this. It was a few thousand more than I wanted to spend but it saved me from getting into an RV loan.

Wanna be on top?

They're already on Facebook Marketplace, for what it is worth. The car overhangs the carpeted area by about two feet so they couldn't have stayed even if I wanted them.

My guess is he slept on the bottom and then used the top bunk for storage. Throw bins up there and then strap them down.

One of those vehicles needs a "FREE CANDY" paint job. Get on it.

On the F1 front, I hope Sainz is getting a huge pay raise for next year, because damn, Vettel got out-qualified by both Haases and one Alfa Romeo.

Sainz just put out a statement yesterday saying "there is no bad time to go to Ferrari." Considering he is bootlicking already that is a full green light to laugh at his demise.

Maybe we can reel @mikey into this.

A man in Tampere, Finland placed a bet of 0.20 Euro on the Gasly-Sainz-Stroll podium. He won almost 34 thousand Euro.

Holy hell...what a haul...that's legit crazy, that book must be furious haha

I'm assuming at least two of those guys were not expected to, uh, podium...? Is win/place/show or whatever just a horse racing thing...?

With how F1 is set up, let's just say this would be like Arizona, Columbus, and Minnesota all making it to the conference finals.

F1 is very much a haves vs the have nots. While McLaren and Racing Point (Sainz and Stroll) are middle of the pack teams, they aren't Ferrari, Mercedes, or Red Bull, which have dominated the recent history. Alpha Tauri (Gasly) is sub-middle of the pack. Their cars, typically, just aren't as good as the big 3.

Yeah. Gasly won on account of the fact he pitted right as a safety car went out. He was cycled to the front when everyone pitted. The guy who would've normally easily won the race made a mistake and was sent to the back of the grid and couldn't make it to the front again before the race finished.

Other than Raikkonen falling backwards through the field, there were no passes in the top-6 during the last 20+ laps of the race.

I assume the haves are guys like Sebastien Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, and the Finn...Haikonnen? Raikonnen? Vicodin? Something like that...I have no idea who anyone else is...although, I assume there's some Italian in there somewhere...

That's wild though...good for that guy, I don't think I can do the math on those odds...

EDIT: Raikonnen was one of my choices, see, I'm hip...
