Only Pitt could replace Richmond, Miami (OH), and Marshal with Clemson, Louisville and NC State.
Tough schedule IMO.

How do you legally argue that it wasn't feasible to bring in Miami and Richmond and not pay their guarantee money when you replace them with those teams

It's unreal how much the ACC bones Pitt.

Does Home/Away really matter if there are no fans in the stand, or at least not a packed stadium?
Still a brutal stretch at the end.

They'll lose one of Louisville or BC
One of ND or Miami
One of FSU or VT
And Clemson
So 7-4

While 4 losses seems disappointing, it's tough comparing this schedule to a normal year. I'd say 8 wins would be very good

My heart says this team is good and even with this tough schedule 8-3 or even 9-2 is achievable.
Me head says 7-4 or 6-5.

If they get through that opening stretch at 5-0 (lol) they'll have a real shot at making some noise. I think momentum is a big part of CFB and thinking you're really good is a part of the equation

I hope that defense destroys Western PA turncoat Phil Jurkovec (who will also have the chance to rub Notre Dame’s nose in it).
Honest analysis: I’m with skullman. I think anything above 6-5 or 7-4 is 100% dependent on the progress of future NFL Star Kenneth Shane Pickett and the never very good offensive line’s ability to give him time. Also could use some improved play calling from Whipple and the use of a RB better than Bad Davis.
Also wish they were playing Duke and Wake instead.

I’m onboard with Dokish’s prediction. Start 5-0 and then the season gets called due to the pandemic so we get to spend eternity wondering what could have been.

Should be 6-0 going into Notre Dame.

Indulging the stupid notion that everything holds and all of these games are played, I do agree that home/away probably means relatively little this season.
I also agree with Dickie Dunn regarding the offense. If the defense is as good as advertised and everyone stays healthy, real progress this season will hinge on the offense being able to go from the one-dimensional slop it was last year to something more balanced.
To that end, I honestly don't hate the schedule. The first five games are all winnable. Hopefully Syracuse's offensive line is still a trainwreck. Louisville could be tough because Satterfield is a good coach and Hawkins & Atwell are threats, but their defense may be suspect.
If they somehow get to 5-0, the second half of the season is equal parts "chaotic fun" and "slowly evolving nightmare":
- at The U. If Pitt's offense has started to put it together and Miami is still the bag of cats it appeared to be most of last season, I like Pitt's chances. That said, Pitt has squandered recent games against Miami teams that were also internal messes, so who the hell knows. I'll steal the joke I saw on Twitter last year and say that hopefully all the "U" fans in Blawnox are disappointed after this game.
- ND at home. I'm excited for this because I enjoy any opportunity to see Pitt make Brian Kelly's face turn the color of a fire engine. I'm sure this will end in crushing disappointment thanks to an egregious penalty or non-call. Also excited to see Erie native, fellow Cathedral Prep alum, and legitimately good person Bo Bauer suit up and get playing time at LB for ND.
- at Florida State. They've got some NFL-caliber talent on defense, but F Norvell. I hope Pickett solidifies his Heisman bid by torching FSU for 450 yards and Pitt wins this game like 52-10.
- at GT. This is the "should be a win but this just feels like a loss" game on the schedule.
- VT at home. This should be fun because by the time this game rolls around, it feels like VT will come into this game on a ridiculous run or on the precipice of Fuente finally imploding the team. Can't wait to watch this on TV and count the ways ESPN works Bud Foster's name into the broadcast. I hope every time a Pitt RB touches the ball, it winds up like Olisson's run from a couple of years ago, complete with the stiff arm. F these guys.
- at Clemson. Three months of charging the Pitt Superweapon culminates here. 2020 stopped making sense eight months ago. Bring it on.

As Narduzzi appears to be meeting with the media for the opening of camp, and we have actual roster/program updates, friends. Stand by for news...
1. Dontavius Butler-Jenkins is out for the year with a knee injury. Narduzzi said DBJ is scheduled to finish his degree this year and will remain on scholarship. It looks like he's been removed from the roster.
2. Also gone - FB/DL Rashad Wheeler has graduated and is no longer with the program.
3. WR Yogi Ro...I mean Joe Delsar...oops I'm sorry Jake Vardzel...Jake Vardzel is now on scholarship.
4. Saw a twitter post earlier this year that LB Leslie Smith appeared to be on crutches. No word on injury or time that he may be out.
5. Narduzzi said no players at this point have opted out due to COVID. Per his quote reported from The Pitt News, "It's a day-to-day thing. If kids are scared, you've got to understand that."
6. On the schedule, Narduzzi said it's nice to have four straight at home to start. Said it will be good to have an extended time to figure out how playing at home will work and see how teams that have to go on the road handle arrangements as well.
7. Players aren't staying at the South Side hotel they normally book for camp. Said that players have been following all protocols well on their own and they didn't want to disrupt that. Not sure if that may change as more students come back to campus.
