Hulk in this morning. Never got the fascination myself.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Not sure. I was a big Nick Heidfeld fan though so maybe it's something along those same lines.

Solo Nationals was just cancelled.

Yep, kinda glad my plans for Runoffs this year fell flat.
The 14 day "self quarantine" guidance would really jam up a lot of people from the NE travelling.

Forgot my wallet so it'll have to wait until tonight.
T5 fodder for the Spec Miata's, here I come.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
I happened to look at the TT page and saw you were online, hah.
I reserved a garage. You're welcome to use it if needed. I got it mostly to have somewhere to sit between runs as it was hot as **** last year. If you want your own give Justin a call at (270)-777-4509. Rate is $70 a day by 4 days.
The event starts on Thursday. Thursday is technically practice, but the times are used for grid seeding.

...aaaaaaand my wife just got fired. So maybe not.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Doh.
She hated that gig anyway, tho, right?

Yep, she actually got fired in between taking a lunch phone interview and leaving early for the day for an in person one. Just hope it didn't wreck her mood for the second one.Doh.

Did she get a new job yet? Eight spots left before the waitlist kicks in.
Which is pretty awesome, really. Last year we peaked at 191 registrations. This year they're going to reach the 250 cap.
(Seriously, though. Hope she's doing well.)

I saw the waitlist countdown this AM, lol.
She's doing alright. Actually got an exit interview where the HR director for the region said the reason one of her subordinates was in the termination meeting was because she didn't agree with it. And when my wife was providing feedback and said, "I'm not trying to get my job back..." she cut her off to say that if Aundrea wanted she'd try to help her get it back.
I mean, that's an unsalvageable boss/employee relationship but its nice to know those witnessing on the outside didn't view my wife's half as deficient. It seems the downfall was when my wife provided feedback to her about a department structure change and the boss took her as insubordinate or a know it all. Found out in the exit interview when the regional HR director tried to give the boss feedback on how to handle things the boss got angry and marched off hot headed.
She's had two in person interview since then, so we'll see how it goes.

Nico Rosberg's YouTube channel has become a pretty useful resource; I enjoy really his track analysis videos.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Yeah, his bits during the network coverage when he fills in have been getting great reviews as well. Crofty should see himself out...
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
Crofty does a decent job of maintaining the enthusiasm of Murray Walker. But he doesn't do a very good job of being enthusiastic about the wrong thing nearly as well as Muddy Talker.
I actually used to have coworkers in the UK send me PAL video recordings of maybe four or five races a year that'd I give to my friend who worked at a post-production house who would convert them to NTSC for me in exchange for a few CDs. I just loved hearing him and Brundle call races.

It's a 'everything is over the top so nothing is interesting' with him. Particularly in the first three laps. There is a lot to be said with a bit of silence to allow the story to tell itself. And then there is what he does.
John Hindhaugh is the number one voice in racing, imo.

Murray Walker was my first exposure to F1 commentary (via Formula 1 on PS1) so I have a soft spot for him.
I find the commentary in general to be boring, though.

Murray is great when watching old clips on Youtube. But I probably would've tired of him if I were following the sport at the time.

Also partial to the announcer in the first clip:

I am genuinely saddened by this news.
Williams F1 team announces takeover by US investment firm Dorilton Capital
Williams F1 team announces takeover by US investment firm Dorilton Capital
In the 40 years I've been following F1, I can recall only one incident of outright shenanigans that Williams - the team - was involved with. Frank Williams is the longest-lived quadriplegic in human history, and Patrick Head is an engineer of unparalleled excellence. We are left with the sad fact that the last grand prix victory they oversaw was claimed by Pastor f**king Maldonado.Williams confirmed back in May that it was considering a partial or full sale of its F1 team in a bid to ease financial pressures, and that it was undergoing a strategic review of the best action to safeguard its future.
The team had suffered a downturn in revenues in recent years after slumping to the bottom of the F1 constructors' championship in each of the past two seasons.
In a statement issued on Friday, Williams confirmed it had been bought out by Dorilton Capital in a move that brings "a successful conclusion to the Strategic Review which was launched in late May."
Dorilton Capital is a New York-based private investment firm that has involvement in sectors such as healthcare, engineering and manufacturing.
The sale of Williams Racing to Dorilton Capital received "unanimous support" from the company's board, including team founder Sir Frank Williams, and "secures the long-term success of the Williams Formula 1 team".
The announcement confirmed there are no plans to change the name of the team or the chassis, with the new owner recognising "the importance of respecting and retaining Williams' heritage".
There are also no plans to relocate the team from its existing base at Grove in Oxfordshire.

Blame Claire.

Man, the Claire/Jonathan feud is something too.
I wonder if the Heritage collection was involved in the take over.

Why on Earth would an investment firm buy an F1 team? As the saying goes, the best way to make a small fortune racing is to start with a large one. Is this going to turn into some Pirates/Nutting deal where Williams does the bare minimum to stay in the sport in order to get a cut of the revenue?

So the Indy 500 was yesterday.
Neat.

Had a family friendly pool, won by my oldest who didn’t leave the couch the whole race. My middle one gave up when Rossi crashed. My youngest just liked the opportunity to snuggle dad (he’s a Hinch fan).
