87 was good. Most other players were not. Tie series. Let's go back to the same place and win game 3 as well...
What I wouldn't give for a nice, comfortable Pens win, and not one where I'm wondering if combining 8 types of liquor at once would help me through it.

First win with JMFJ in the line up
He didn't seem to standout as much as he did in game 1.

And rightfully so.

Murray was very good and the team managed the puck better as a whole. The game could have been lopsided if they Pens had any semblance of a power play, but a win is a win.

Montreal, on the other hand, showed a serious lack of discipline and could not stay out of the box. They appeared frustrated and out of their league. They will lose the next 2 games if they continue to defeat themselves.

I think MTL takes soo many penalties because they're chasing the game, never have the puck, trying to "intimidate" due to lack of playoff experience. Price and Julien will keep this tight. Good for the Pens to more or less stick to the plan and get the W instead of going off the radar and giving up chances by playing too loose to force things that arn't there generally.

Marleau was more noticeable
Horny needs more top PP time
Top PP - time to revert to grip and rip strategy

Montreal takes lots of penalties because they've figured out the Pens can't do anything but waste time when on the man advantage.

Players who need to get more PP time: Horns and Marino.
Players who need to get less PP time: Schultz and Jesus McCann.

Hot take: Schultz is fine on the PP if they get established in the zone because he seems like he's the only one who actually puts shots on net.

I have always like Schultz more on the top unit because he is much more deliberate with his plays. He doesn't clutch 6 times and head fake 3 more times before he does something like 58 does

The only dman maybe, but you only need one dman manning the point and that dman is Letang. Schultz is terrible as a QB, so he'd basically play the half wall and the Pens have better options than him for that role. Marino on the half wall would be interesting, tho.

I have to admit I'm fairly disappointed in Schultz' season. Might be JMFJ's fault, I don't know.

It feels like the Pens get about three times as much time in the offensive zone with Letang back there, because Schultz is somehow never in the right spot to intercept a clearing attempt.

In any case, release the Horns.
