I have yet to let my son play Minecraft. He's read some books on it and his friends talk about it, but hasn't played the game.

BeyBlades are his thing right now. Spinning tops that fight against each other. wtf?

I like Minecraft more than I thought I would. It's certainly a very easy way to pass the time. I was building tunnels between our houses the other day, and creating trap doors to access them.

We waited until our daughter was 6 to give her access to a Kindle outside of road trips and flights. And even then, she doesn’t have a lot of games on it. Most of the time, she uses it for reading and playing abc mouse, thankfully.
This is pretty much where we are. They are allowed 1 hr of screen time per day, and that includes the Kindle, TV, computer, etc. Most things on the Kindle are interactive, not games.
We started with the 1 hour per day thing, but Covid threw a wrench into things. She has free reign of the Xbox right now, but at least she's being "productive" by building us houses in Minecraft.
Yup, with our daughter being home and both of us working all day, restrictions on screen time have been greatly relaxed.

Minecraft is great. I wished my kids still played it more (they do jump on occasionally), as it was fun and not stressful.

Unlike when the three of us play Warzone...

A friend from work and his son started building a city on an online server 7-8 years ago, and they both still work on it from time to time. That's the cool thing about Minecraft - it has the longevity that most other games just don't have. Sure, you can play old games (and most of do), but can you go visit a world you created years ago? It's like a time capsule.

How would you dispose of a power wheel?

Put it next to your worst neighbor’s trash can on trash day.

Thanks for the input everyone. We told my mom to buy the Fire HD8 kid's edition for him, since they were on sale (looked like?) for $90 today.

My son and I play Minecraft a lot. My favorite thing is using TNT to blow up large chunks of land to build my underground lairs. A'int nobody got time to dig through individual blocks, hah. He got me this TNT coffee mug for Father's Day, its awesome. Holds a ton of coffee: http://earny.link/walmart/ANGIGg

My son is 2 for 2 today on naps/bedtime pulling down his pants and ripping off his diaper, then peeing in the crib.

I hope this isn't a new phase.

He’ll be 3 for 3 when he shits in the shower and stomps it down the drain.

Our daycare sent a CACFP form (food program) home. It's asking us to provide our income. We dont qualify for free meals and id rather not tell them our income.

They may have to report this to the program that they use for food assistance. We don't qualify, either, but my daughter still receives meals there somehow.

Then find a private/in-home daycare that doesn't do CACFP.

This is pretty standard. At our day care they applied for assistance and were able to provide meals at a greatly reduced rate.

Right, why do I have to fill it out if I don't qualify?
Does the daycare get something? If so then good for them.
I don't want random people knowing how much money I make. F me right?

I use a private daycare. I pay tuition which includes meals. So I don't know why it seems like I'm so off base here.

See bolded. Your tuition includes meals, yes, but part of the meals are funded by CACFP... even for your kid.

Odd conversation for the parenting thread, but why are people so hesitant to give their income on forms like this?
