Male them less expensive with further distance and more charging stations and you’ll get your wish. Until then, it’ll be the fringe.
Yep, agree. I think they will get the battery distance issue better but those charging stations may take some time. I still like (old) internal combustion motors. At least they make some noise.

50% after 20 minutes of charging on a Tesla Supercharger. If they improve the range, then maybe the charging station issue isn’t as severe.

They are getting closer to 400 miles on the S and over 350 on the X models:
The latest version 2020.4 firmware follows last month’s range increase for Model S and Model X. The Model S is now listed with a range of 390 miles, up from 373 miles, while the Model X has an EPA estimated range of 351 miles from 328 miles

I think it depends on the Tesla model, the capacity of the battery, and the type of the Supercharger. The older Superchargers might take a little more than an hour. I think the newest "V3" Superchargers are much faster, although there aren't as many of those yet. An hour or so would probably give a full charge on everything. Of course, one wouldn't necessarily need a 100% charge to get home or to the next charge station.

Didn’t surprise me. And I read different charging times elsewhere, so who the hell knows.

I know how long it takes to fill a tank with gas. About 90 seconds. The only variable is tank size.

Charging time really only comes into play when taking long road trips, though. Even before the pandemic, I figure more than 95% of my daily driving was well under 200 miles per day, and most days I drove less than 30 miles. Overnight charging on a home charger would have easily covered all of my charging needs. I wouldn't have even needed to charge every night. I could go months between taking trips that would have required any in-trip charging.

I figure my car is probably good for another five years at least, but after that I might take a hard look at the EV market. It's getting difficult to find cars with manual transmissions, and if I can't get a manual any more, I might as well switch over to an EV. It would cover the vast majority of my driving, and if necessary I could always just rent a car for longer trips. I do wish Tesla would make something to slot in under the Model 3. I'd be first in line for a Tesla hatchback around the size of a VW Golf, say.

Where are they going to put the batteries? In a trailer behind it? I want to see more EVs from other companies, because there’s no way I’d pay what Tesla is asking for those cars.

The Chevy Bolt is up to 259 miles of range, so it's possible to fit a sufficiently large battery in a small vehicle, and Tesla keeps improving its battery tech to pack in more power. I like the look of the Volkswagen ID.3, but unfortunately VW has decided that the US won't get it and will only get "crossover" versions of the platform. Why would I want something that's heavier and has shorter range?

One of the problems i see could be the people that live in apartments or don't have a garage and park on the street. Lot of that here in lil Warsh. Could be tough keeping it charged.

After 4+ months of driving my wife’s CR-V around town for groceries, etc, I took the TL-S out on the turnpike today to return those jacks. Felt good to open her up a bit and pass all of the jagoffs chilling in the left lane.

While on the topic, I initially took the HF gift card for the jacks, as they gave you an extra $5. Walked every single single, some of them basically empty, and couldn’t find a single thing that I really wanted. Ended up swapping for the cash instead.

Made it home with travel trailer in tact, truck didn't blow up. Only real struggle was on 22 climbing up to Cresson/Summit. Man that is one hell of a mountain to climb. We took it slow and made it. Trans got slightly hot but not enough to kick a warning light, I still stopped for 15 minutes so it could cool down.

I'm utterly impressed with the airlift 1000 bags. If you have a dodge or any other coil spring tow vehicle that sags bad, you must get them.

I got to drive my new car again yesterday; we're now heading towards 250 total miles! :lol:

Android Auto is really cool, and I discovered another hidden feature (I guess?)

As one would imagine in July in SC, it's really hot out - mid 90s before the heat index. The A/C was blasting, and when I said "Hey Google," Google Assistant came on and turned the A/C fans down while I finished my request. As soon as it was done reading my calendar or whatever I asked, the fans went back up to full blast.

Kind of cool, as my wife's 2017 Accord's assistant doesn't do that. Which I gladly told her about when I got home. :pop:

My mom called today and her '15 Kia Sorento had a blinking Check engine light. Which is never ever good. Anyway, read the code and it's a P1326 knock sensor. Apparently several TSBs about it. And likely needs an entire motor replacement... 61k miles...
