Highly recommend watching it...really, really well done.

Also, they posted his last recorded song before his death. :(

Both albums are really good.

Neil Young's was recorded back in the mid-70s, and he shelved it as he was too embarrassed by it. Features Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, and Emmylou Harris on a few tracks. A few tracks popped up on Decade and other later releases.

Dylan's is all new songs, very topical and pertinent. It's great, very understated.

The Dixie Chicks - who have a new album coming out in July, their first in 14 years(!) - are now calling themselves The Chicks.

Evidently, they had to reach out to a New Zealand group with the same name.

I (of course) have already listened to Homegrown. I wish I liked the album more, tbh. "Florida" alone will make it impossible to listen to the whole album with any regularity.

Yeah, that one's a stoned mess.

It's the main reason I don't listen to a lot of his live acoustic shows - too much stoned chatter between songs. He has the chatter sequenced at the beginning of each song, which means you have to suffer through whatever he's mumbling about.

Weld is perfect, and Live Rust isn't too bad either...but the other earlier recordings are bad about that.

Weld is my favorite album he has ever released.

Loved Freedom and Psychedelic Pill too.

Such an awesome discussion of Skynyrd. Such an underrated musical act, Ronnie Van Zant was brilliant.

This song by Skynyrd is probably my favorite. After hearing the
@Political_Beats epidode on them I've been re-listening to their whole catalog and man...this song just haunts. So good. Ronnie Van Zant was a savant.

Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme had a solo group called Population-1 for a few years; they had to change their name because some freakin' bar band that plays 80s covers in Georgia had the same name.

I never realized how "old" she was during the Blondie heyday.

Two other music videos are also featured within "Money for Nothing". The Hungarian pop band Első Emelet[25] and their video "Állj, Vagy Lövök!" ("Stop or I'll Shoot!") appears as "Baby, Baby" by "First Floor" during the second verse (The name "első emelet" translates to "first floor", and the song is credited as being on "Magyar Records": "Magyar" means "Hungarian" in the Hungarian language.) [26] The other one is fictional, "Sally" by the "Ian Pearson Band". The fictional album for the first video was listed as "Turn Left" and the second was "Hot Dogs". For the second video, the record company appears as "Rush Records", and it was filmed on Fisherman's Bastion, Budapest, Hungary.

Suprisingly, the original video by "First Floor" isn't found on YouTube. There's an english version that is listed, but it's not the same.

Nice. Watched that video many, many times back in the day. It must be the 35th anniversary? That and Back to the Future...yikes. :face:

I was actually surprised they didn’t edit the f-word out of that video. I vaguely recall a minor cancel Dire Straits viral thing a few years ago, after Mark Knopfler was out touring and doing press for one of his recent solo albums. (His solo albums are really good, btw. Not a lot of guitar histrionics, more laid back/singer songwriter than rockers).

I’m sure @tifosi77 will correct me if I’m wrong, but Knopfler was quoting a meathead he overheard in an appliance store during one of Dire Straits tours in the early 80s.
