They were out there for a budget meeting. I get that that is an extension of their cause, but since we have this deadly virus going around, maybe not everything needs to have a mass gathering?
Especially after a month straight of this and changes are starting to get rolling in a lot of areas.

The "letting protests happen" argument assumes that authorities could shut all these down if they wanted. I'm not sure if that's the case
Maybe they shouldn’t have marched with them, or basically encouraged them to happen. Maybe make statements like “We believe in your cause, and believe it to be just. We will bring reform and blah blah blah... but you must know this is highly dangerous to be protesting in such large groups of people. You could inadvertently spread it to those that are vulnerable. Wearing masks isn’t enough, one must also not congregate in large numbers. So if you are going to protest.... blah blah blah.”

It's not even the letting it happen. Its openly celebrating and cheering it on then pretending like its impossible to spot why anyone would be defiant after they're told by those same people to stay home and stop earning money

What if we have BLM shoot the fireworks?

Does that make the virus go away?

What changes exactly? Mrs Buttersworth? Statues? Police on paid leave? These aren't changes. This is pandering mixed with white people thinking they're helping.

Fine then. Mass protests in every major city every single night until racism is gone. Is that realistic?? I just dont think a budget vote is worth hundreds of people risking spreading this virus.

Ulf, there's a lot of middle ground between forcefully breaking them up and having governors and mayors locking arms and walking too.

I'd argue that those actions did more to diffuse protests than any forceful action

The governor who declared masks as optional at the gathering? Yeah I agree what the hell is she doing?

"We will have a large event on July 3. We told those folks that have concerns that they can stay home, but those who want to come and join us, we'll be giving out free face masks, if they choose to wear one. But we will not be social distancing," Noem told Fox News' Laura Ingraham.
