That goal is a microcosm of the entire series. Not once - NOT ONCE - did a Pred win a 50/50 puck in any of those games.

i find that unlikely

I knew Clark Donatelli was there for awhile and he ended up going to WBS after Sully was promoted. He was replaced by David Gove. Gove took over midway through the season and ended up taking a leave of absence a few weeks months as the Nailers were in the first(?) round of the playoffs. With Gove taking leave, former Penguin Jeff Christian was promoted from assistant coach to head coach. The last coach I remember is John Brophy. He died 4 years ago.Who the hell was their last head coach?
Christian was there for a few years, and that should take us to whoever was the previous head coach, who I am completely blanking on.

Did Jeff Christian ever suit up for a game as a Pen? Or sent to the Flyers or Kings right away?

Yep. At no point during the postseason did I think anyone was capable of beating us. We just outworked every single opponent.

My favorite cup run. They just dominated with their speed, offense created from turnovers.Watching the 2016 Stanley cup dvd with the kids. The Pens were a steamroller

I was confusing him with Jeff Chychrun who did play 17 games with the Pens.

Can we talk about the Eastern conference hub reportedly being in Vegas? If games aren't at 4pm Vegas time this is a colossally bad decision imo
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
I don't think Vegas would be the Eastern hub. Rumor is they want Toronto to be the other hub, so I assume the West would play in Vegas and the East in Toronto.
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
it's been rumored around the internets that it's the Eastern hub because the Knights won't be allowed to play there, so they'll be with the Western teams wherever that is

Well that seems silly.

I was starting to second guess if that was Chychrun or not. Had to go to hockey reference to doublecheck.15 games over three seasons.Did Jeff Christian ever suit up for a game as a Pen? Or sent to the Flyers or Kings right away?

Chychrun only wore #6 when he was with the Pens. Going through his game log, he only wore the diagonal Pittsburgh jersey once (10/27/92 @ Ottawa, 0 pts, +1, 2 PIM)
Christian actually had three different numbers. I somehow remembered him wearing #72, which is also why I was starting to wonder about that pic. He wore #72 in 1996-97 for 11 games, wore #28 in 1995-96 for 3 games, and wore #34 for one game in 1994-95. I'm wondering if that 34 was a recycled goalie jersey.
Useless bit of trivia involving those two: They are the only two players in NHL history named Jeff that also has a last name that starts with Ch.

Chychrun spent a good amount of time in Hershey during his AHL days. Every game, there was a banner on the railing in the upper corner that said 'Chychrun's Rooster Boosters'.
To me, the NHL putting both conferences in the Western timezone would severely hamstring their scheduling. You figure that you need to have 6 games a day between the two venues (two qualification games, one round-robin game). So to maximize your TV windows, you play the East games at noon, 4, and 8 and play the West games at 2, 6, and 10 ET (and hope for no long OT games). By having both hubs in Western cities, you either force teams to play at an early-morning body clock time or you fail to take advantage of the amount of viewership and excitement that staggered game times could bring.

Toronto makes little sense because then you have to deal with Canada's quarantine rules and the border (which I think isn't open to non-essential travel)...I don't think Vegas would be the Eastern hub. This was the night before the parade. Dude came in at 130am with his mom, sister, and sisters fiance. They ordered a bottle of kettle one and stayed until 3am. I had to ask him to get down from the pole. When I saw him at the parade the next morning I was like that MFer hasn't stopped....Three years ago today Olli Maatta got wrecked at the Cup Parade.
