We're amidst a fairly large economic disruption now and for the foreseeable future. We'll see.Well unless the fed decides to start funding new stadiums, i dont see where the stillers (or any other team in any city) in the foreseeable future is going to come up with the funds to pay for a stadium
You underestimate the spinelessness of mayors. No one wants to be the guy/girl responsible for a team leaving town.

Seem to be consensus picks, nothing really to get excited or upset about. Honestly it’s hard to even find a way to feel animated about anything pro sports right now.
They also did their minor league mass cut this week. Juan Pie was a surprise to me, no one else or note really.
Have to say though, the pirates sure did put themselves in good position this year to come out the other side of this. Payroll is so low that they won’t be hurt by a short season (if we even have one).

You don't draft for need in the MLB draft, and I think Cherington deserves at least a couple more months before we tar and feather him with GMNH comparisons.

From everything I saw, at the time that dude was the best player available. DK over-hyper it I think, but I guess I'm not arguing with a position player, instead of pitcher. Bummed that WPIAL kid went to Cincy, now we'll hear how he's a local kid when he torches the Pirates 5 years from now.

Hendrick played a little for my dad a couple years ago. Would have been great to see him get picked up by the Buccos, but 7 was a little high for him

• The Pirates then took the guy they’d supposedly wanted all spring: New Mexico State infielder Nick Gonzales, a high-floor but fairly low-ceiling prospect. He can hit, but the power he’s shown in college is illusory and he’s going to play second base in pro ball. I think he’s a solid regular but doesn’t have much upside. The Pirates probably got more upside in their competitive balance pick, right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski, who has mid-rotation potential but not much track record of success before last summer in the Cape Cod League.

Huh, they took a Gamecock righthander at 31. That's a damn shame. #AllIn #GoTigers
