Willard was one of the 10 or so best improvisational comedic actors of all time imo.
I mean, I say that without actually being able to think of more than maybe three or four I might rank ahead of him.... and they were all in movies together throughout the 80s-00s.

Could you count Peter Billingsley? He was on there semi-regularly but definitely wasn't a primary host like the other three.Without clicking on your link:I used to watch Willard on Real People....

Body found at Venice Beach identified as former WWE star [Shad Gaspard of Cryme Tyme] who went missing days earlier

Gaspard was swimming with his family when he and his 10-year-old son got caught in a rip current. Shad insisted the lifeguard take his son in first and sadly that was the last time anybody saw him. RIP.

damn that's sad. I liked their Cryme Tyme gimmick back in the mid 00s.Body found at Venice Beach identified as former WWE star [Shad Gaspard of Cryme Tyme] who went missing days earlier

Rip tides scare the hell out of me because I feel like you could be the greatest swimmer and still get drowned by them
RIP
I had to be pulled in by a lifeguard after getting caught in a rip tide. I was in my early 20s, not out of shape by any means, and I couldn't do ****. As hard as I fought to get back to the shore the damn thing kept pulling me back out. I'm assuming it wasn't even that strong of a rip current but I was absolutely exhausted after just a few minutes of fighting it.

was just reading up, apparently the best course of action is to swim parallel to the shore and escape it to the side
I definitely need to keep that in mind being on the coast

Yup...I was caught in a minor rip and did just this. That said, it is EXTREMELY easy to forget conventional knowledge and panic like F'ing crazy. You see the beach that is tantalizingly so close, and you think that surely you can make it. Awful way to go.was just reading up, apparently the best course of action is to swim parallel to the shore and escape it to the side

I think that's the other thing I have a hard time understanding--if I am really panicking and am running out of energy, I typically go straight to the backfloat move to help conserve energy. I feel like in a lot of these cases, people are panic swimming directly into the rip current until they completely lose energy.
I will also say--there are few things that are more panic-inducing than when you are in rough water and the waves keep crashing mercilessly over your head. That is the only time I ever yelled for a life guard, although I ended up getting back to shore. I was getting tossed around and I saw my wife floating further away from shore, and she had a look on her face that scared me to my core. I didn't think she was going to make it back and it terrified me.

As someone who got caught in the current, and knew what a rip tide was and how to escape, it didn't matter. Maybe if I trained to get out of it in addition to just reading about it, I'd have remembered. But in the moment, I forgot all logic and panicked to the point of exhausting myself. I didn't realize exactly how much danger I was in until many years later. At the time, I was mostly just embarrassed.
