Mikey I understand 100% what you're saying and disagreeing that someone on the bottom rung of the effort ladder started as QB on an NFL team for a decade. As neither of us have any evidence of how much Cutler worked out this is a fruitless argument, but I severely doubt he beat out whatever other hundreds of guys vying for a spot by getting outworked by all of them. Good talk
NFL
Let's not kid ourselves. Wherever you land on the Cutler-Cavallari curve, if you asked all of us to describe Jay Cutler before hearing this news, the largest font words in the resultant cloud would've been "lazy and unmotivated". He was the poster boy for the concept of "bare minimum".
NFL
I thought of him more as someone who plays his position, and gets paid. Doesn't really give a damn about winning as much as staying paid, which means enough effort to keep his contract.
Either way, that's less lazy than marrying someone else who did that.

And to be clear, I'm not really pro-Cavallari here or anything. To me, this story is just confirmation bias about what a useless loaf of meat Cutler is.

Ask a Bears fan which QB between Cutler and Rex Grossman they dislike more and you could have yourself a long debate.

I guess Baker already blew through the $6.7MM he got last season and Dunbar the $9.4MM in career earnings.

I read that Baker, almost as soon as he had his rookie contract money in hand, immediately bought his mother a Bentley. Bunch of fcking dummies.I guess Baker already blew through the $6.7MM he got last season and Dunbar the $9.4MM in career earnings.

These guys work their asses off from high school or earlier with the promise of earning huge paydays if/when they make the NFL. A lot of them also come from lower-class families and have never had training/experience handling money. Especially large chunks of money that come with signing with an NFL team. The story of the pro football player blowing through his earnings is way too common. I don't know what you can do about it other than force all rookies to work with a financial planner, though.

I believe they are required to sit through something(s) in this regard as they are on-boarded into the league...it needs to follow-thru, certainly...
But really no one gets taught this when you think about it...I got taught how to bake cookies more times in high school than I did how to budget my finances...

That's the old thing that comics say too...someone who does the big clubs in NYC and gets picked up for a show and by the end of taping of the fourth episode they already have a new car and a new house...and then the show doesn't even air and they're right back in the clubs again with a ton of debt...
Rule of thumb, after your third season of having a show, then you can buy something haha
But yeah, I say it all the time, if I was a genetic superior and wealthy beyond my reasonable comprehension at age 23...I'd have no idea what to do with myself. I know I wouldn't be robbing people...but I think it would be easy for me to get swept up in the party lifestyle...I grew up poor also, so I know the value of a dollar, but I also know the value of a million of them...and that's gonna bring along a bunch of gold digging whores and probably a garbage bag full of cocaine every weekend...

It's part of the same rookie symposium where Chris Carter talked about the importance of having a fall guy.I believe they are required to sit through something(s) in this regard as they are on-boarded into the league...it needs to follow-thru, certainly...

I know that the NBPA has a partnership with a financial advising company where players can get guidance for "free".
