Yep, or when a pitcher's throwing a gem but comes up with guys in scoring position.
I understand a DH fan would look at it is an unfortunate way to have to take a pitcher out. So whatever, people have different tastes. Just leave the NL alone

Yeah, I think that’s what it comes down to. If you’re a fan of the dh, you like the separation of pitching and hitting. They are two separate entities in the game that battle against each other. Downside, less intricacies in the game. If you’re not a fan of the dh, you like when there is crossover between those two things and the intricacies when those interactions happen. Downside, lesser one on one battles.

Either way, both leagues should have the same rules. I tend to fall on the side of the DH but if they told the AL that pitchers had to hit, I’d be all for it

MLBPA should just make Boras their leader.

While he’s not wrong, the owners have already said that they would lose less money by not playing at all this season than if they played and had to dish out full salaries to the players. The league and owners can survive a year without baseball. No one gets paid and everything goes back to action in 2021. I wonder how many players can go a year without pay.

Looks like Blake Snell will pitch only if he gets his 7 mil. Says too dangerous unless he gets full amount. Guess it is not dangerous if he gets enough money.

Be interesting to see what happens to athlete pay in the near future while we live in a world where front office schmucks are getting hit with pay cuts and Jason Heyward makes $23MM.

I guess you have to have some gimmick when you can't win the division.

Why do people not understand cash flow and how finances work?

There will be no tears here for any American professional team in the Big 4 when it comes to losing finances (Canadian hockey teams I'll feel bad for because of the exchange factor). When your franchise is worth billions (with a b), you'll find a way to make this year work. I'm looking at you, Cubs.

Worth doesn't pay bills.
I could have a car in my garage worth $15k.
I can't take that car to Giant Eagle and get milk.

Last time I checked the young lady behind the plexi glass isn't going to accept a piece of blue paper for 2%.

This is an owner risk issue. Players normally take the risk. Even with guaranteed contracts, they have more risk than owners, who can count on steady income with gates and media contracts. Obviously, players should be willing to bend contracts with less money coming in, but owners can’t pretend like this is a situation that will go on forever.
