also are they going to ban spitting, which happens, oh, i dont know, every second of a 3.5 hour game on fingers, gloves, the field, etc

Baseball isn't a contact sport by any means but between the catcher/batter, leadoffs by the first baseman, plays at bases.. you can't avoid being within close proximity. So those half measures just seem pointless

What about injuries? I would assume with more doubleheaders rosters will be increased, but will there be a scout team that practices and stays in game shape in case the main club has players go on the DL?

As it's presented in that article it's a complete non-starter, click-bait basically. I can't see the players agreeing to do it at all.

I want sports to be back as much as the next person, but this just sounds like a bad idea for all involved. The play will be bad, no one there to watch, no one will be motivated etc. It will be like watching practice and warmups all the time. It's not worth it. That's not even taking into account any possible health stuff that pops up.

I would like to see bad teams like the Orioles and Pirates relegated to high school and little league fields, and have to work their way up to college and the Diamondbacks stadium. That would be fun.

Would be a dream scenario, but no way it would work with all the new stadiums built over the years.I would like to see bad teams like the Orioles and Pirates relegated to high school and little league fields, and have to work their way up to college and the Diamondbacks stadium. That would be fun.

Former Texas Rangers star and 2010 AL MVP Josh Hamilton was indicted on a felony charge for injury to a minor on Monday, reports Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Hamilton turned himself in to police and was arrested in October for hitting and scratching his daughter.
Jozelyn Escobedo of ABC 8 WFAA reports that Hamilton told his daughter to tell the judge "what a terrible dad I am" to ensure she would never have to visit his home again. Here is more from Escobedo:
When interviewed by Child Protective Services, his daughter told the interviewer that Hamilton started to assault and throw things at her after she made a comment that upset him, records show.
The former baseball player is accused of throwing a full water bottle that hit his daughter in the chest. Hamilton then pulled a chair from under his daughter and threw it at her, a warrant says.
Hamilton then allegedly took his daughter to a room, pinned her to a bed and repeatedly hit her on the back and legs, according to an arrest warrant.

I've gone down a rabbit hole in YouTube watching perfect game footage. Cone's in 1999 was a thing of beauty. Don Larsen in attendance, and didn't have one three-ball count the entire game.

I believe Tom Browning's was similar - no 3 ball countI've gone down a rabbit hole in YouTube watching perfect game footage. Cone's in 1999 was a thing of beauty. Don Larsen in attendance, and didn't have one three-ball count the entire game.

Lol awesome
Reminds me of a college game, we had this big lefty freak of nature. There was a water tower in right center, the kind where it's just the circle part if you will at the top. He turned on one and banged it off the tower and both teams just came out on the field in awe, like what the hell did we just see. Sandlot kinda moment

Three ten team divisions. For whatever reason they flip flop the Braves and Pirates in the Central and East. Which is really cool because under the proposal you'd only play within your division. So bring on 50 games against the Yanks, Sox, Phillies and Nats. Jfc

I’ve always advocated for a more geographical realignment of divisions. Not happy with the outcome but a step in the right direction.

MLB draft is limited to 5 rounds this year with unlimited undrafted signings for $20k. I know some college juniors that would have probably would have went rounds 15-30 so curious how this works out. I also assume they'll be eligible again after next year's junior season? If that's the case I don't see many non-seniors taking $20k to leave early
