These are pretty much my thoughts as well. I hoped the trade would give Yuk a revival, but he just managed to suck more than ever before. Brassard was a proven commodity who came here and acted like a dodint.lessWas he more or less of a disappointment than Brassard?
brassard was 'big game brass'
the guy who always gave it his all
the legit top/2nd line center who they were going to have as the 3rd line center. a guy who was supposedly better than bonino
chucky was/is an enigma. at one time or another he sucked in montreal and arizona despite the 30 goal season with the former.
much more was expected from brassard who, by from what i understand, whined about his role on the team and worse, didnt always try hard,,,something you could never accuse chucky of, inept as he was capable of looking sometimes

I think we had longer-term ambitions for Brassard, so I'm gonna say he was the bigger disappointment.

Not sure that's even a contest. Did anyone have expectations for Galchenyuk here?

I expected him to not be invisible 99.5% of the time he was on the ice. He didn't meet those expectations.Source of the post Did anyone have expectations for Galchenyuk here?

Maybe, kind of like the Vegas 2nd/Fleury/$2M retain on Brassard thing, This trade was done with plans to do something like a Dumba $1M ret for Bjugstad and Schultz signing rights at the draft. ... and a bag of pucks.

I had said in another thread that I was going to give him 10 games as a Pens before commenting on Zucker as a Pen.
As a Wild
29 pts in 45 games; 0.644 ppg
20 ev pts in 45 games; 0.444 ev ppg
As a Penguin
7 pts in 10 games; 0.700 ppg,
5 ev pts in 10 games; 0.500 ev ppg
Time on ice:
Wild: 15:54
Pens: 17:25
He is very close to the same per game production as a Pen as he was with the Wild, but also getting 1:31 more ice time per game, making his P/60 actually less as a Penguin.
Ev time as a Pen:
87.92% with Crosby
2.5% with Malkin (and not Crosby)
9.58% with neither Crosby nor Malkin
So spending 90% of his ev strength time with Crosby or Malkin, and he is not doing better than he was with the Wild centers that everyone was blasting. However, 0.7ppg is solid, 55 point rate is decent. But for the other things that he does (doesn't do) on the ice, $5.5M, a 1st and Addison... It's not exactly a win. He certainly isn't being a Galchenyuk or a Brassard... but it's still a lot got what they got.
Not sure that the chemistry is working out with Crosby though. HUGE numbers for Crosby the first 4 games, but only 1 point for Crosby in the last 6. Zucker had 4 points in 4 games, then 3 in the next 6 (including a 2 goal game). Maybe once the newness wore off it really just isn't there.
After 10 games, I still don't give this trade a thumbs up.

While 10 games is a very small sample, his ppg and even strength ppg that you used are higher, so how is he not doing better?

Technically I addressed that, you are just ignoring what you don't want to see. While 10 games is a very small sample, his ppg and even strength ppg that you used are higher, so how is he not doing better?
If he had 1 less point, or 1 more game, ppg would be worse. It's literally as close as you can get being even 10 divided. I also pointed out that p/60 is lower, so why aren't you using that and saying that he is doing worse?
He is spending 90%+ of his time with Crosby and Malkin, so shouldn't he be doing considerably better than he did with Minnesota's centers?
I don't say that he was a failure, nor did I give the trade a thumbs down. I said that I can't give it a thumbs up. When you place what you are getting (on ice overall) and what you gave (trade, cap hit), the scales aren't happy.

So mostly lateral production, playing 90% of the time with 87 who is in one of the worst slumps of his career coupled with one of the team's worst slumps of the past 15 years.
I vote let's do this again 10 games from now.

By the way, I'm not a huge zucker fan so far. Too much puck fumbling and too many low percentage plays.
So in other words he fits in perfectly over the last 6 games.
Basically long story short this is a pretty bad sample to draw conclusions on any one individual or the chemistry among players, statistically or otherwise. Seems like this is anomalous.

So Zucker is the player the Pens thought he was? A 20-30 goal guy that will be a 55-65 point player for the next couple years. And considering the market price for guys has a pretty reasonable AAV.
The Pens lost a 1st (we knew this was going to happen, the window is now)
The Pens #2ish prospect from an admittedly severely depleted system that may or may not translate to the NHL.
I’d say at this point the price paid is market price for a proven commodity that has term and is by comparison to UFA’s of the same/similar caliber slightly underpaid.
If we expected him to come in and be PPG guy I don’t think those were realistic expectations

Is comparing ppg to a player’s old team and ppg with his new team really the best way to evaluate a trade? Asking for a friend
