I was trying to find a good budget bourbon, and bought a handle of Evan Williams. I must say, I am impressed. Obviously not as smooth as, say, Elijah Craig, but it is solid.
What price point do you consider budget?
For me it's $20-$35

Old Overholt Bonded Rye is fantastic for the price point if you're looking for a rye...

Weller special reserve has popped up a lot online for around $24, can't go wrong with that.

Tried a new beverage for this fine evening... it’s a winner. It’s called the Italian gentleman (hat tip to @slappybrown )

1½ oz Bourbon (had woodford reserve on hand)

1½ oz Campari

¾ oz lemon juice

¼ oz simple syrup

2 dashes orange bitters

Stirred on ice and then poured over ice. Tastes like grapefruit juice. It’s delicious.

My go to.

I don’t think I’ve ever made my own Bloody Mary. As far as Pina Coladas, I’m a big fan of How to Drink and the last Pina Coladas I made at home followed his recipe.

Spent the afternoon at Lost Spirits Distillery in the Arts District in DTLA. Their tour is fantastic; they have a boat, you take a party bus on the freeway, and parrots do a spoken-word Welcome To The Jungle, and they finish you off with navy-proof rum.

Had my first taste of 12-year Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey. Very smooth with prominent notes of vanilla/caramel.

Bluebird Rye Bourbon is such an intense flavour. It's almost the Laphroaig of bourbon. A must try.
