Well, blowing this motor has accelerated my timeline for a lot of things. There are a lot of 'while you're in there' items to do when having a motor out. One of which is the easiest clutch change in the world.
Are you swapping because it's broke, or just moving to a race spec clutch?

Swapping because it's broke...its Bspec, there's not race spec anything, lol. It's not like 100Hp to the wheels beats things up anyways.
My current trouble is I'm still set on getting it licensed, just in case. Which means for a salvage car I need to fix the damage first to get it licensed as prior salvage, and then start the race build. It's kind of aggravating having the front end off and not putting the suspension and header and all on.

My driver coach from last weekend runs a former Pirelli World Challenge B-Spec car; a Honda Fit. At least you're in the *right* B-spec car.

Turns out dropping the oil pan in an E46 is an incredibly invasive process. Have to drop the steering rack, front FCABs/suspension, and support the motor with a hoist so you can drop the motor support out of the bottom. That means my forensics work on the oil pump issue will be set aside until later this fall. It's fine, cage is going in first and new motor is going in after I take the bar exam, so March.
I still wanted to wrench on the car, though. Ended up ripping out the carpet and a ton of interior bits. It was cathartic taking a knife and pry-bar to it.
Genuinely surprised how much of the under-carpet area is filled with Styrofoam panels. The functional floor is way lower than I thought; explains why people put diamondplate under the pedals in E46 race cars.

@dodint
Have fun at the Runoffs, grab some pics of the B-Spec Cooper roll cages for me, lol.

Yeah, it's been cool so far. In the South Paddock. American Sedan was a hoot, watching folks spin f-bodies all day.

I watched a bit of SRF, and laughed that everybody's nose was worn through by the end of the race.Yeah, it's been cool so far. In the South Paddock. American Sedan was a hoot, watching folks spin f-bodies all day.

Someone on a forum I go to recommended they add a heat shield to the front bumper.

So I'm at the F1 Festival in Hollywood. The event technically started 90 minutes ago, but they're still building stages and stuff.
Currently attending next to a Sky Sorts presenter who I do not recognize.

Ask RIC what he was thinking for me, pls.

Also, if anyone wants to watch any live streaming coverage (the actual existence of which I am unaware), I am wandering around Hollywood Boulevard in a red hoodie, red Ferrari hat, and sporting a black backpack. @me and I'll say hi.

So the car and driverey stuff doesn't happen until 5, and I'm not sticking around that long. Maybe come back tomorrow

So I'm not sure how I'm going to tell my son that his favorite Indycar driver is suddenly out of a job.

O’Ward is more fun, anyway.

Well he's a Hinch fan, so it's not like he was expecting results anyways.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
I'm a Hinch fan, too, going back to seeing him in person racing in Atlantics.
My impression of Kimi Raikkonen is actually me doing Hinch's Kimi. (Which is a version of Hugh Laurie's racing driver from a sketch he did with Stephen Fry many moons ago, that Mrs Tif actually has her own impression of)

So here's the official video of the F1 Festival in Hollywood.
If you fast forward to 1:19:39, you can see me in the crowd trying to catch one of the Renault hats Danny Ric is throwing into the crowd. (Again, red hoodie; red Ferrari hat)
When Alex Albon got out after his run, he was talking to DC and said "This was the first time I've ever done donuts." Maaaaaybe don't share that with the crowd? lol
Here a few of my utterly sub-par pics and videos from the sidewalk.

F1 2021 will have a manufacturer spending cap of $175mm.
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
It's an in-season spending cap, though, from what I've read. Teams will still be free to spend as much as they like on initial development.
Hard to tell from that render but they're going back to using wheel covers. This is a different take:

Bodywork frozen at the first GP too, isn't it?
Motorsports (non-NASCAR)
I haven't seen that. Would it be like Indy? Have high and low downforce aero packages?
A lot more shared components now, including more of the fuel system. Also you'll get a grid spot penalty for changing brake pads after the start of FP3 through the race, similar to a gearbox change. Blah.

F1 is the pinnacle. You can either hang, or you cannot.
Also, how do the teams even account for spending? Iirc, that was one of the issues when they first started talking about a cap 15 years ago, especially for the constructor manufacturers. They can just hide F1 spending in their car division's "R&D" budget and poof - no one knows how much they're actually spending.

Sounds like F1 teams will need to hire (more) creative lawyers and accountants to parse the rules and devise ways to bypass them.

Roger Penske now literally owns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and INDYCAR.
