The team was charged with creating a must-see attraction that was also uniquely Philadelphia.

They're just trying to wear them out so that they are too tired to beat their girlfriends when they get home.

Is it any different then the several cities (?) that allowed fans to smash up cars with sledgehammers before playoff games?

Except the money doesnt go to a charity (I assume that it did for the car smashing .......)

i would say the big differences are include the fact that it is located inside the arena where your team is potentially getting demolished, equipping your fans with weapons and them potentially leaving that area and seeing the opposing fans.

this just seems like a thing in 5 years where you see a fan getting mauled by a philly fan with something from this room and everyone saying 'well... what did you expect'

You think they're gonna be willing and able to leave that area...? Take a lap...it will be fine. Unique idea.

Honestly sounds like something the team (Flyers employees, not the team) that came up with the Gritty concept would put forth.

Was confused until just now; thought they meant gridiron but they're talking about soccer.

Oh what about that guy that just got buried in the Boston game and Jack Edwards laughed at him when he was on the stretcher...I don't think he can fit one over his face, eh?

There's gotta be more than that, this rule isn't that old...what about all the anonymous grinders like Andrew Shaw and his ilk?

I tried thinking of those dudes. Forgot Shaw. Hendricks retired. D MacKenzie retired.
