Gardiner also lacks hockey sense, that's part of why teams are shy...

Steve Simmons? Hard pass

If you're asking me, and I'm trying to be as impartial as I can be, the all time top 5 is:
Gretzky
Lemieux
Orr
Crosby
Howe
Beyond that, there's a mix of guys who could easily fit in the 6-10 spots interchangeably.

Swap those top two and I agree.

I'm torn. I keep Wayne on top just because of how much ahead he is of everyone else in career scoring, but, on the other hand, I've always bumped Howe down the list because he seems to just get pointers for just sticking around forever. If we are going to put Mario up in the top spot because our criteria is "most talented", I think my list would change up quite a bit.

Howe finished top 5 in scoring like 21 straight years, right? That's probably a little better than "sticking around"...

There was like 100 guys in the league. Finishing top five was easy.

Opposite. He had few nights off. While Mario could dump 5 goals in on Peter Sidorkewicz, Howe was facing a HHOF goalie most nights and going against a top 10 defenseman in the league on way too many shifts...There was like 100 guys in the league. Finishing top five was easy.
And it's not like he was just hanging in there...like 1953, he scored 49 goals, the second place guy had 32 and it was his linemate. They were the only two in the league with more than 30. Howe had 95 points, his linemate had 71...Maurice Richard was next with 61.
The game in the late 50's to mid 60's was some of the best it has ever been...
There is zero case for anyone to be in the big four besides the big four...zippo.

I wonder what the best 2nd line the Pens ever had was,
I don’t remember all names or really any from the early 90’s but
X - Francis - X
Straka - Lang - Kovalev
Malone - Malkin - Sykora
X - Malkin - Neal
I’m sure there’s more but I can’t remember.

Gotta give props to that KLS line
I believe Jagr was a wing on a line with Francis at times, so that will give the KLS a run for its money on those two alone

Totally forgot about Nedved. Would that line win on default considering the two HOF players on it and 2that are considered part of the best to ever play the gameNedved - Francis - Jagr

Nedved was a center, and a LHS. Not sure how much LW he played.
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
iirc, Nedved played mostly LW in his first year with the Pens, then switched to C the second year, while 66-10-68 became the 1st line.

Probably, wasn't meant to contradict your assertion, just expressing my surprise. Seems like an odd place for someone with his skillset.

Sid makes it look like an afterthought. Guy is just incredible.

I’ve been on the ice with some pretty high caliber players. I don’t think I ever went 0-3 on a drill like that and looked so utterly useless while doing so
At least I hope not

What does Gonchar drive? I think he and I might just have had a disagreement on how he operates his vehicle.
