Even the greatest movies usually have one subpar performance, scene, or moment that makes them “only” 99.9% unassailable. Being fully aware of that, I absolutely stand behind this claim: Shaun of the Dead is a perfect movie. It is completely flawless, and because of that (along with my love for Spaced, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), I will support anything Simon Pegg and Nick Frost do for the rest of time. They won’t have difficulty convincing anyone to watch their next project together, though, because it sounds like it’ll be right up Shaun of the Dead fans’ alley. The pair will return to the world of horror to play paranormal investigators on Truth Seekers, their new series headed to Amazon.
Variety reports that Amazon Prime Video has picked up the rights to the series created by the two stars of the Three Colors Cornetto Trilogy. Frost and Pegg will play Gus and Dave, who “team up to uncover and film paranormal sightings across the UK,” which sounds inspired by “reality” shows like Ghost Hunters… if the hosts actually found any actual ghosts.

They're the modern day Pryor and Wilder for me. I love basically everything they do together.

What a great show.I haven't seen the commercial, but I would imagine they are trying to get as many people as possible to watch the show - not just comic book nerds.Am I missing something with that The Boys commercial on tv with the Spice Girls music in it? I had no idea it was a superhero show with that commercial. Did they intentionally make it as deceptive as possible, or was it bad marketing?
Speaking of comic book nerds watching The Boys, I watched the first two episodes without any idea what it was about (not familiar with the comics).
It's great, much better than I thought it would be. Plus, lots of c-word usage, which is always good (Karl Urban's character is British and uses it a lot, so it's not misogynistic). It's wild.

If one isn’t a big superhero person, but dabbles i the genre, would he like Boys?

I'm glad to see The Boys getting good pub in here. Was a big fan of the comic before Garth Ennis went full Garth Ennis. One of these days I'll get around to watching it.
In non-superhero related TV shows, Workin' Moms on Netflix is great. Created by, produced by, and starring Catherine Reitman.
Having not seen the show but read the comic, I would say yes. Not to put it on the same level, but The Boys is more akin to Watchmen, a deconstruction of the genre with superheroes actually being awful people. If one isn’t a big superhero person, but dabbles i the genre, would he like Boys?

Disney's earnings missed estimates yesterday because of Dark Phoenix, but some interesting tidbits came out of the call:
Disney is set to release its own streaming service, Disney+, on Nov. 12, and on the same day it will offer a deal bundling Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu, the company announced on Tuesday.
The price for that three-piece bundle is $12.99 per month — the same price as a Netflix standard plan.
The company has already said all episodes of “The Simpsons” will appear on the services on day one. Other 20th Century Fox titles on Disney+ will include “The Sound of Music,” “The Princess Bride” and “Malcolm in the Middle.”
“We’re also focused on leveraging Fox’s vast library of great titles to further enrich the content mix on our DTC platforms,” Iger said. “For example, reimagining ‘Home Alone,’ ‘Night at the Museum,’ ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ and ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid.’”
And, now that Disney owns Hulu, it can put its not-so-family-friendly fare on that streaming service alongside “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Act” and “Catch 22.”

I'm catching up on A.P. Bio and they made a reference to somebody killing a bunch of immigrants in rural Texas. Yikes.

they ruined GoT. they also gave us episodes like the season 6 finale. i'm still hesitant to label then as categorically incompetent.https://deadline.com/2019/08/game-of-th ... 202663930/Netflix Wins Overall Film, TV Deal For ‘Game Of Thrones’ Creators David Benioff & D.B. Comedy Central’s ‘Good Talk with Anthony Jeselnik’ to Feature Interviews with Kumail Nanjiani, Nick Kroll
Comedy Central has given the greenlight to “Good Talk with Anthony Jeselnik,” a comedy interview series hosted by the former “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” writer.
Each episode of the series, premiering September 6, will feature a conversation with one of Jeselnik’s friends, who happen to be some of the biggest names in comedy. Over six episodes, Jeselnik will sit down for conversations with David Spade, Kristen Schaal, Kumail Nanjiani, Natasha Leggero, Nick Kroll, and Tig Notaro, discussing their careers, influences and what it’s like to perform stand-up.

For those 5AFers with kids, Storybots is really a great show. Super educational and a lot of humor geared towards parents. For example, the first episode of Season 3 was a Mad Max parody about recycling.

There are like 20 shows in our Netflix kids rotation. Story bots is one. Julie’s green room is also sort of a random gem.
