More thread creep, but since we're on topic...my in laws were riding out to Iowa last week in their 1988 Buick Electra with wood panel trim and it went up in flames. One minute they're on I-80 in the middle of Illinois minding their business, and within the next 5 minutes, the car and everything in it minus my in-laws, a briefcase, and their binoculars were ashes. They will probably never know what happened.

Come to think of it, sounds like a good opening chapter for an AuthorTony book.

What happened was they were driving a 31 year old car that was built to last 8 years.

That looks great. Disney easily could've just made a clone of the first movie and raked in the cash but instead it looks like they're going for a more serious tone and totally expanding the world. I'm in.

Main title says "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood." Title in credits says "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood"

Literally unwatchable.

‘Gladiator 2’ producers confirm timeline on Ridley Scott’s sequel
The producers behind Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ follow-up, Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have confirmed that the sequel will be set 25 years after the original.

During the press tour for ‘Men in Black: International’ HeyUGuys’ own Stefan Pape asked the pair whether the film was still happening to which they confirmed it was.

MacDonald said “We’re working with Ridley, that’s one we wouldn’t touch unless we felt in a way to do it was legitimate. We’re working with an amazing writer as well, Peter Craig.

Parkes added “It picks up the story 30 years later… 25 years later”.

’12 Strong’ scribe, Peter Craig has come on board to write a script for the follow-up. Rumours have it that the plot of the movie will follow the now grown up Lucius, son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) and nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). This would make some sense as Crowe’s Maximus was slain at the end of the film, making it impossible for him to feature. However, never rule out the impossible.

Yikes. Do not want.

I can taste the melodrama already. You thought this guy was your daddy but he wasn’t it was actually that guy who killed the emperor. Now you have mixed feelings about who you’re close to and a revenge plot emerges. They find out you know who your real father is and they plot to kill you as well. You the rightful boy are stripped of your title and rank and crawl your way up like your real daddy finally avenging him and taking your rightful place back.

I’d say I’m pretty close

Endgame is damn near perfect if you cut out the 10 seconds where those chumps all said they'd protect Captain Marvel as she attempts to get the gauntlet across the battlefield. Hell, even removing the dialogue right there would have been fine.

Ugh. Obligatory Nick Cave Sequel post that should have been made:

“Maximus goes down to purgatory and is sent down by the gods, who are dying in heaven because there’s this one god, there’s this Christ character, down on Earth who is gaining popularity and so the many gods are dying so they send Gladiator back to kill Christ and his followers.”

“The main guy was his son so he has to kill his son and he was tricked by the gods. He becomes this eternal warrior and it ends with this 20 minute war scene which follows all the wars in history, right up to Vietnam and all that sort of stuff and it was wild.”
